Default Onkyo 605, bass shakers, bi-amp?

Ok - I currently have my Onkyo 605 setup in a 7.2 setup - I recently picked up a pair of bass shakers that I would like to add to the system - now I know I can simply pick up another amp, run the LFE into it and use that to power my bass shakers, but I'm curious to know if it would be acceptable to use the bi-amp feature of the reciever and run the bass shakers off of the rear surrounds - this would effectively make the reciever think it has a 5.1 setup (I would lose my 7.1 rears) with bi-amped from speakers (I believe) - I would then run my front towers off of the front input and my bass shakers off of the surround back input. Does this sould acceptable to everyone else? Seeing as how the Onkyo doesn't matrix hd sound and we watch mostly bluray anymore, I'm not losing a whole lot until I pick up a second amp/reciever to power the bass shakers. If anyone has used the bi-amp feature of the 605, can you still independantly adjust the frequency response for the front and surround back outputs? THANKS!

I would think that would NOT work- you'd be telling the 605 you're bi-amping the fronts and thus all your mids/lows would be sent to the bass shakers and you'd get nothing but highs out of your fronts.

That's why I was wondering if anyone knew if you could still adjust the crossover settings independantly for each output? I'm not at home right now, so I can't check, just thought I'd ask

EDIT: Also, just a quick question that I can't seem to find the info for - If I wire the bass shakers in a series, does that double the power consumption? i.e 2 x 50w bass shakers in a series = 100w total power needed to adequately power the series?

THANKS!

EDIT 2: Nevermind, I found my answer to the power question here http://www.termpro.com/articles/spkrz.html

main purpose for a 2nd receiver to run the shakers, is for volume control...if you connect straight to your onkyo, you'd have no way of adjusting the shaker output without effecting total volume control.

But... there's no pre-amp output on the 605. How would you do that? Wire it right through the subout? Err... wait, you're not running it through the sub out.

Yeah, I'm assuming you'd just use a splitter from the subout into an input on the other receiver...

I'm a noob when it comes to adding other amps and such. Would this work without introducing noise/input lag?

I don't believe so - the signal is simply a pre-out for powered subs and the signal degradation would probabley be minimal - many people run 2-4 subs off of a single pre-out so I don't think lag would be an issue...

...as far as noise, I'm not really sure, but I'm only using the second receiver to drive the tactile transducers (bass shakers), so noise shouldn't be an issue
