Default Odd BD distortion, any ideas?

Hey guys,

I'm quite new to the whole Blu-ray scene and I hope you can help me out with a problem I'm having. Kinda hard to explain but here goes...

I've noticed lately that in dark scenes, certain dark textures will tend to "shift". It's usually subtle, but still drives me nuts. For example, during the opening scene (interview of the Replicant) of Blade Runner, the facial features...namely the cheeks...of the Replicant will seem to move within his face, when they are clearly not supposed to.

Another notable time that I have seen this is while watching The Longest Day. A solder runs up and sits up against a wall. The wall will appear to move, even though the camera is perfectly stationary and definitely should not be moving.

I suspect the problem is with PowerDVD, but I'm not sure. Before I drop another $60-100 on upgrading PowerDVD or switch to a different app, I'm curious to know what you think. I haven't seen anything like this watching HD cable content, or gaming...so I do not suspect the TV itself.

I'm currently using the PowerDVD 7.3 BD edition (with the latest patch) that came with the drive.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.
