Default Home Theater Setup

I am going to finish my basement and was hoping to convert my basement into a home theater. What should I install (ie: wiring, tv, speakers, etc.)?

You will have to inform us what you want, and what you're price range is.

Floorstanding speakers?
Bookshelf speakers?
Satellite speakers
In-wall speakers?
In-ceiling speakers
Combination thereof?

Receiver?
Power /pre combo?

Plasma?
LCD?
DLP?
Projector?
And size thereof and whether 720p or 1080p?

Room acoustics?
Lighting?
Seating?

See what we mean? Lots of question to be answered. Buy hey, don't let that scare you, because it's a blast putting it all together. And if you do it right, you'll end up with a kick-a** system.

Good luck my friend!

For the past two months, I converted my bonus room to a dedicated home theater with a 100" Stewart screen. Without a doubt, the number one thing to consider is wiring. Know and understand how its all going to fit together, your room limitations (I had plenty), and plan for a bit of future upgrade. I wound up snaking wires on external walls, so that was my first task. Luckily I was successful. If not, I certainly would have been forced to redesign.

Do you think you could provide some pics? Would be nice to see the progress you have made.
