Pretty interesting stuff!

Will You See All The HDTV Resolution You Expected? 125 2008 Model Test Results

The new motion resolution test is fairly interesting! With only one tv to resolve all 1080 lines during the test (Samsung LN-46A950 in a specific configuration) followed by the Pioneer, Panasonic and other plasma displays.

Unfortunately HD Guru also notes that this Samsung drops to 330/1080 in any other configuration and will NOT pass 3:2 tests with motion plus set to "ON" in any shape or form.

Meaning, you either deal with poor 3:2 cadence or motion blurring.

I thought there had been some advances with the 120Hz LCD's but Gary's results show that all the big 120Hz LCD sets from Sharp, Sony and Samsung still stuggle to get above 600/1080 for motion resolution.

It's a shame he didn't get any of the 850U panny's.

This shows the Pioneer plasma is still the premiere display available today.

Thinking out loud, this all begs a few questions:

Will the next generation of 1080p projectors, which have 120Hz refresh rate and motion interpolation, perform better or worse than current models?

How do high definition CRT displays perform with motion resolution? (I assume potentially very well).

And what of plasmas, which do well without such technology?

If you would like to know how most of the 2008 HDTV's performed with this motion blur test, you need to check out this site. This guy tested 125 different models. Great information if you are looking to buy or upgrade.

Cools beans. Makes me feel good about my decision to get the Pioneer 5020 here in the coming months (not that I hadn't already done the research and determined it was the best option).

Yeah, but compare prices. All LCD's priced similarly to the Pannys get spanked, at half the price on Amazon.

The Sammy does have great blacks, but still suffers from other issue just as do all lcd's.

The test was for motion resolution, not blacks. Best motion resolution EVER tested, now you have to admit that is pretty impressive.
