Hi,
I considered upgrading my Hard drive of my PS3 since I bought it way back in Nov06 but recently I went ahead and bought a 500GB drive. Since then... my PS3 has been busy downloading the all the game demos. PS Store would likely be killed if everyone did like me and downloaded ALL the free stuff. But,... what can I say.. the demos are pretty fun or at least pretty. Some games I know I'll never want unless I find them used for a couple of dollars and maybe not even then but if I can download and play the first level of them that's worthwhile. So,.. at last count I had 84 demos with 11 more in the que.... how many demos are on your PS3? -Brian |

i download every demo but only keep them long enough to decide if i'd want to buy the full game or not. demos rarely stay installed for more than a week or two. i just don't like cluttering up my PS3. same with videos, wallpapers, themes...

ive only DL'd one or two demos total, and after playing them through once or twice made a decision if i wanted to buy or not, then deleted them, i upgraded the HD on my PS3 also, but i use the extra space to hold music and movies, i dont like to hold onto the demos for longer than i need to make a purchase decision

Well,
Some of the demos qualify as stuff I know I won't buy but the demos can still be fun. NFL Tour is an example. I think the game pretty much sux but now and then playing it for a few minutes can be funny. I own 6 PS3 games and 3 PS2 games so I don't often buy games but it's still fun to play them. And playing the demos lets me know about games I would otherwise have no idea about so eventually when they wind up in the bargain bin at Gamestop I'll know what the game is like. -Brian |

Fiancée and I download almost all demos when they become available, since we have different tastes. How long they stay usually depends on whether or not they're games we'd consider buying. Ratchet and Clank is STILL on the hard drive as a not-so-subtle hint to fiancée that I WANT IT!
Some demos we keep around because friends and/or family enjoy them. My nephews love the sixaxis steering and the slow-mo crashes of Motorstorm, so I let them play those 2 demos, because honestly, they're not gonna play them long enough to justify me spending $90 to buy both full games. The Guitar Hero: Aerosmith demo has like 4 songs and is fun to pick up once in a while. Other demos are massive and satisfying on their own. I could spend an hour or two on the Civ: Rev demo alone, and it's a different experience every time. I can't even imagine how un-freaking-believably long the full game is! There are 11 demos on our system at the moment. |

I pick up about half of the demos that get released. They don't stay installed; if I haven't bought the game within a week of release, I delete the demo because it didn't do its job of convincing me to get it. If I bought the game, I delete the demo immediately.
Same rule applies for me for trailers. Usually the demos I pick up are for games I'm on the fence about (Mirror's Edge - which I bought, Jericho - which I didn't) or ones I really want to play but already have pre-ordered (Killzone 2). I never have more than 2 or 3 demos on my system at a time, and I've got a stack of PS3 games waiting for me to finish them still so it's not like I need extra time-wasters. ![]() |

Glad to hear I'm not alone. I used to download everything, which was the reason for upgrading to a 500GB drive myself. Funny thing is, once I upgraded, I stopped downloading everything.
![]() Now, I think I have about 5 demos (including GT prologue that I got on launch date, but never bought the full game!) Also I have about 5 or 6 PSN games. Don't even get me started on how much time was put into Pixeljunk Monsters. ![]() I do download all of the video previews, then if that looks good, i keep my eyes out for the demo, which usually comes in a couple weeks, then if I like the demo, I'll try to find the game used or cheap. I still have a hard time justifing $60-$80 for a new game. |
