Default Greatest Theatrical Experience?

What is yours?

For me; it was May 30, 2006 while I was living in Germany. As a matter of fact it was the final hours I spent in Germany before flying back to the US after being there for three years. While I had lived in Germany for those three years, I had always gone to the Kino (German for Movie Theater) at Mainfrankenpark because they would show American, English, and Australian films in their original audio, mostly on weekends in the mornings and I'd go either by myself or take my little sister because most of the films playing would either be rated 0 or 6 (Oddly 50 First Dates was rated 0 and I took her to go see it). So this was my last night and I wanted to watch Silent Hill. It was not in English but I really wanted to go watch it and so I decided to check the times and it was only playing at 23:00 and it's a 2hr movie so I was like; "Great, I won't be out until 1 in the morning".

So my mom made a deal with me that if I could watch my little sister and brother while they went out with some friends for a farewell party and then go watch Failure to Launch then she'd drop me off to go watch it. I did and I get dropped off and I get my ticket and the woman working the tickets was trying to speak English as good as she could and was "This film not in English." And I told her; "Yeah, I know." She rings me up and I hand over 5 Euro for the ticket. I got and I spent another 9 Euro on a big bucket of popcorn and 1 liter cup of Coke and I go in and I'm waiting for a good half hour after 11 o'clock because the theater usually plays a half hour of commercials. The movie starts and I see the "FOCUS FEATURES" logo appear on the screen and I hear the beginning of the Silent Hill theme play and then it starts and they're yelling out for Sharon and it's dubbed over in German.

I actually understood more than half of the dialogue being spoken. It really got me when they are speaking in German and then Akira Yamaoka & Mary Elizabeth McGlynn's song Letter - From Those Lost Days starts playing and it's in English. Then when we get to the end and
[Show spoiler]they are driving home and it's still foggy and then it cuts to Sean Bean waking up and seeing that the door's open and he thinks that they are home but they are not and he shuts the door
and then Lost Carol plays and the movie fades to black. I was moved and amazed that I saw a film in a language that I was not completely fluent in and understood it. I watched the credits roll and then walked out and was happy that I spent the final hours in Germany watching a damn good film.

Two weeks after I got back and was in Hawai'i; the movie theater on Schofield got the film and I went and watched it twice while it was playing. Still enjoyed it in it's original English but seeing it in German holds a special place close to my heart. Best night I ever spent in Germany.
