Default My TV miraciously displays 1080p now!

I have the Pioneer elite 60" and I have only been able to display up to 1080i since I bought it. I watched POTC 2 last night and it displayed 1080P! I was shocked! I went back to a couple older BD's and sure enough it displayed 1080p also! I guess my TV doesn't support 1080P/60, but it displays 1080P/24! So ever since I updated my PS3 I get 1080P functionality....but only with 24fps.

God I love the PS3!

Yea I just went and looked at the manual, sure enough...it displays 1080p@24hz, and has the capability to convert to 72hz when displaying dvd movies having 24fps (<---do DVD's have 24fps?)

Your 60 inch Pioneer Plasma accepts 1080P/24 input and displays it at 720P quality at 72HZ. Currently Pioneer only has one 1080P plasma on the market and it is 50 inches (PRO-FHD1). The first Pioneer 1080P Plasmas in 60 inch sizes are coming out in September (PDP-6010FD, PRO-150FD)

The top of the line Elite PRO-150FD 60 inch list price is $7,500 with a rumored contrast ratio of at least 20,000:1 contrast ratio. So prices have come down this year. The 50 inch model last year was launched at $8,000. This year one can pay $500 less and get a 60 inch screen with at least double the contrast ratio.

The PRO-1540HD is a 720P quality plasma since it has a 1365 X 768 resolution which is slightly better then official 1280 X 720P. All 1080P displays are required to have 1920 X 1080 resolution. Now the set will accept 1080P/24 and down convert it to 720P quality.
