in this days economy, something tells me these "super aggressive" bogus companies are going to get even more aggressive with their marketing. It's already been declared that most US families will not be splurging on personnal goods as much as they were a year ago, so with the economic state we're in, most companies outside of the catagory of "need", are going to go over-and-beyond to get a consumers attention.

As much as I can't stand Monster, their pathetic business practices and their ridiculous marketing lies, I'm not too sure they put Frys up to this. If I had to guess, I'd say Frys management thought this one up in order to sell more overpriced Monster crap on which they make serious mark-up profit.

The only thing "monster" about those cables is their price.

maybe so in this case, but monster was fined heavily last year for less than legal marketing scams

The TV industry is basically the same. I've still seen TV's with Full HD & HD Ready on them...that is a conflicting spec!

Oh no the tv industry is producing 1080p (pixel) panels but the TV doesn't have the cpu/chipset to produce 1080p-progrssive scan images.. How convenient.

To many people have been duped into buying TV's that cannot do full hd.

This sad monster scam is pathetic & someone needs to be verbally slapped.

I've never seen nor heard of this (which doesn't mean anything ). Can you provide some examples? Not doubting you, I'm just curious to learn more about these. Thanks.

Huh?

"HD Ready" means there's no built-in digital tuner.

HAHA I had to look at that a couple of times...unreal.
But to Fry's defense, if they're like BB, they have part time schmoes (no offense intended) that are setting up this stuff, could, possibly, be an honest F'up. But given the evidence, hard to see that it's an honest mistake.

so is the claim here that HDMI is superior to non-HDMI? or is the claim that Monster is superior to generic?
here's the display. misleading? maybe. an outright lie? no. seems fry's is simply claiming a monster HDMI is superior to a generic composite, which is true.

Thumbs up A Perfect Signal for $6.29

Component, while still analog, is much better than composite. The scam example had only one cable, which has to be composite. Component uses 4-conductor cables.

And there is a difference between component and HDMI. I had a cable box with component video and I had them swap it for an HDMI box. What a difference! It was a significant improvement that anyone could see.

I paid $6.29 for my HDMI cables from MyCableMart.com. The picture was perfect. I bought my TV from BrandSmartUSA. The cable they wanted to sell me was priced at $119.99 (19x more). That's more than just a premium, that's a rip off (a premium is paying 20% more, not 20x more). After all, how much better can you get than a perfect signal?
