Metallica Fans with Sirius XM

Not sure how many people have Sirius XM around here, but if you're a serious Metallica fan, channel 42 (Liquid Metal) has turned into the Metallica channel recently. All Metallica, all the time. Plus, they play tracks that are rare and obscure along with the old favorites.

I don't know how long it will last, but it's been over a week now and it's still on. While their streaming rates have changed to $2.99 a month, they have improved the audio quality of the streaming.

MANDATORY METALLICA Mandatory Metallica is taking over Liquid Metal for a month starting March 14 through April 13. The channel will air Metallica music 24/7, including songs from their recent release, Death Magnetic, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 last year, and was certified platinum in less than three weeks. The channel will also feature interviews with Metallica guitarist and singer James Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich, guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo. In addition to interviews with all four band members, Mandatory Metallica will also air exclusive interviews with other artists sharing their personal insights about Metallica's influence on music, including Linkin Park, Slipknot, Disturbed, Guns N Roses, Chris Cornell, Ashes Divide, Blackstone Cherry, Five Finger Death Punch, Atreyu, Mastodon, Judas Priest, Dragonforce and many others.

They did the same thing just before their new cd dropped last year. So, I guess it's back by popular demand.

It wouldn't be much of a stretch by anyone to guess that I now have this set as a favorite on my car's radio tuner. (see screenname)

They do this sort of thing with other artists every now and again. My favorite is when they do it with Zeppelin.

You don't like Metallica anymore?! Blasphemy! I pretty much don't like anything after the black album. I do like Garage Days, but any Metallica fan knows the deal with that album.

I've had 42 tuned into my favorites for a while now; probably around a week or so. I check it every time I strap in my seatbelt, but I often finding myself tuning in elsewhere because they play A LOT of new Metallica, which for the most part I can't stand. It'll never come to the point where I'll say "I don't like Metallica anymore." It'll be more like "I don't like anything Metallica has put out lately."

I'm beginning to wonder if maybe Sirius XM is testing the waters for a permanent Mandatory Metallica channel.
