Default having a problem with ps3 ad 1080p

o, here's the problem, i have a 65" toshiba 1080p along with a ps3...when i go to settings on my ps3 and try to manually change it to 1080p, the screen goes blank, comes back in 30 seconds and tells me to try again..afterwards, i set it to automatic and it will only check up to 1080i...i have a blu-ray disc(ters of the sun) and when i am watching it, on my television display, it says 1080i..does anyone here know why my ps3 wont go to the full 1080p even though i have a 1080p tv???

You using component cables or HDMI? If it is component then it would only display up to 1080i due to connection. You have to use HDMI for 1080p output... Thats the one thing I can think of.

Seems your TV doesn't accept 1080p signals..
Make sure.

It sounds like HDCP. I can only get 1080p when using an HDMI cable. It's something they built into the set. If you need a HDMI cable try
monoprice.com.

Yeah just cause it says it's a 1080p display doesn't mean it accepts 1080p...alot of the first models only can receive 1080i and then the tv de-interlaces that making it a progressive picture

Default Ugh

I was planning on calling Toshiba today (still will) to figure this out for myself as I have the same problem, just a 62" Toshiba 1080p. It must be something with the TV, damn Toshiba! I knew I should have picked up that display model Sony at CC but I was seduced by COSTCO savings. We'll see what Toshiba has to say. BTW, I'm using HDMI from the PS3 to the Toshiba 62HM116, and optical audio out to my receiver.
