Hi. yesterday I updated the Firmware of Pana BD-55 from 1.2 to last 1.3 in Europe. I was shoked by huge judder at the beginning of Dark Knight The Steelcase Blu ray Disc ( the building on the left corner was realy dancing!) and I am not alone (see forum) I hooked panasonic 55 with Oxypure profigold (10m) to Pana TH 65PZ800.

So do I , it is clamed by panasonic that panasonic Bd-55 has the best convertion 4:4. Both my units have 1080p. This morning I placed the same BD in panasonic BD-50 coupeled with LCD Sony: the picture was good (no shaking!)

I do not think so, the option in the setup TV/Device Connection of 24p is ON but the shaking is still on place( zooming building left in the first scene of Dark Knight). The display option of picture: progressive (auto, video, film) did not change anything
![]() Technically, the term judder was introduced to explain a phenomenon that occurs when movies and other film sources are converted for home viewing using 3:2 pulldown, which uses 4 frames from the original to create 5 interlaced frames in the output. As a result, 3:2 pulldown shows odd frames for 49.98 milliseconds and even frames for 33.33 milliseconds. This mismatch of timing produced a jerky effect that was eventually dubbed as judder. I don't know what it might be called in the menu, but have you made sure that the Panasonic HDTV's "Intelligent Frame Creation" is turned off? Apparently that does motion interpolation to generate new frames between existing frames.
I know that the Samsung 100/120Hz models with the motion plus setting set to anything other than Off create strange flickering on the buildings on the left at the start of this film, and that if you turn this setting to Off on the Samsung the strange flickering goes away. It might be a similar case with the Panasonic HDTV's interpolation feature. Last edited by 4K2K; 02-17-2009 at 09:41 PM. |
