It all depends on your preference. If you don't mind the large size of the 1000 I would go with that. I have the One and it's really nice and fits well in your hand. You can't use the 1000 with 1 hand so if you were looking for a bedroom remote I would go with the One. They are both good remotes so I would base my decision on the size.

Yeah, I say go with the One unless you need RF capabilities. I used to have the Sony RM-AV3000, and while it was a great remote for its time, it was just way too big for most people to enjoy. You needed two hands to operate it correctly. I pretty much just stopped using it after a while and went with more traditional remotes from then on out. I currently use the One and love it.

I had a clunky Philips Pronto for a couple of years. I hated it because it wasn't somthing I could hold in one hand and operate by "feel". I always had to look at the remote to do most anything. The '1000' reminds me a lot of the Pronto.
That is the main reason I chose the 'One' and I couldn't be happier. Even my wife loves the thing. I also have an '880' for my bedroom system that I'd love to upgrade to a 'One'. |

Contrary to what the specs of the remote says, the Harmony 1000 does not have a truly usable RF. You have to spend $80 to buy an RF adapter.
Edit: I should be clearer, the 1000 does have RF support if the device has it built-in, like some Direct TV or Dish Network receivers. However, few (if any) TV or Blu-ray players would have this. Last edited by fatediesel; 04-10-2009 at 03:40 PM. |

If I had a "movie theater" type setup for my home theater, I think the 1000 would be the better choice, since it's more of a "command center" type remote and works better in that situation (in my humble opinion of course). |

I've been using the 1000 for over 2yrs & love it. I have zero issues using it with one hand 90% of the time. It's not a HUGE remote by any means either. The 1 is also great, just in the more tradish style layout. I think either remote would please you very much.
