Toy story 3 was known for a long time. Cars 2 I am not sure. First Pixar movie besides toy story to get a sequel.

Yeah Toy Story 3 was mentioned last week when I posted the article about Toy Story and Toy Story 2 being released in 3-D this fall, and MIB3 was mentioned in it's own thread too. Not a big deal always good to let others know.

Thats' why I said never hurts to repost cause yeah someone folks will ***** but a lot of new folks who missed it previously will learn about it now. The only time a repost gets to be an issue is like what i've been seeing recently someone not even bothering to scan the front page and there are 2 or 3 threads on top of each other with the exact same news.

Toy Story 3 has been off and on since 2005. It was originally scheduled for 2007 then got canned and came back and it's scheduled for next year, I believe.

Yeah it's supposed to be early '10 that's why they are releasing the first two this fall.

Of all Pixar movies to bet a sequel they make a sequel to Cars (I've known about this for quite some time, but it's still odd). I mean, you'd think they would have figured that The Incredibles is the one that deserves a sequel the most. Seriously. Geez.

I think these were just announced a few months ago. At least Cars and Toy Story were.

I actually really like Cars, but I don't really care to see a sequel. I'd like it if it just stood alone as one movie, and was left alone.

Sequels for Toy Story always made more sense. I didn't really like TS2 (at least compared to the original), but I'm looking forward to TS3.

I think a sequel for The Incredibles would make the most sense among all the other Pixar movies, but I think I just don't like the idea of Pixar making sequels.

Toy Story 3 is living history--It was the very CENTER of the Disney Vs. Pixar War that got Michael Eisner booted out on his rear:

It started when Eisner-era Disney wanted to "put Pixar in their place" by reminding them that they "owned" the movie rights to the various past films, and even if "ungrateful" Pixar felt like leaving, Disney could still do Toy Story and Monsters Inc. sequels whenever they liked, so there, nyeh...
When Pixar called their bluff, Disney created the "Circle 7" in-house CGI studio for no other purpose to create an entire movie and direct-video line of artificial Pixar sequels.
They got as far as a loopy storyline (Buzz recalled to Taiwan!) when Pixar fought back, and readied their own storyline (What happens when Andy grows up?) just in case.
(Also, Disney had to cover up their bluff with the fact that...no director at the studio actually had the heart to DO it. No real animation director on the payroll was volunteering to stab the Cool Guys in the back. )

Eisner was out, Iger and Lasseter were in; Circle 7 was disbanded literally a month after it was created, Lasseter took the Pixar-created storyline and both Iger & Lasseter declared that herein, Only Pixar Would Make Pixar Sequels.
And actually making the darn thing under correct supervision was the only way the peace treaty could be sealed and buried.

Yeap, there was even a promotional art for the film a few years back with a bunch of Buzz Lightyear toys and then there a big "RECALLED!" Slapped over the image.

Toy Story 3 I could get on board with but I think Cars doesn't need a sequel, thought the first movie told its story well.

I think cars should be left to itself. But I also heard rumor that 'cars 2' was a movie called Planes. Which... is self explanitory.
