Default Gonna have Blu-Ray soon. Which movies do you suggest I buy?

Gonna have a new PS3 and 42" Toshiba 1080p soon.

Which BDs should I buy to impress myself?

So far I´m interested in The Island (man that movie already rocks on DVD I don´t know why it wasn´t more popular), Fantastic Four (will the Blu-Ray version have the commentary?), Stealth, 16 Blocks, Superman and Superman 2 (don´t think part 2 is here in Europe yet??), and Batman Begins (is that even coming to Blu-Ray?). Unfortunately I think only Stealth, 16 Blocks, and Superman have already been released.

Also, what should I look for when deciding if a Blu-Ray movie has a good quality transfer? How do I make deductions using that table that is stickied at the top of this forum?

Which studios are releasing the best BDs (both in terms of sound/picture quality and extras showing of the special capabilities of BD)?

Yes, lots of choices out for showing off your BD player to yourself. Pirates 1 and 2 if that is your thing - is a great start!

so far fantastic four, stealth, 16 blocks and the supermans have been released from the list u gave. Disney so far is releasing the best BD's! I would pick up both of the POTC if i were u. both PQ and Audio was amazing

Disney and Sony. Both of these studios seem to be in an one-upmanship battle of PQ. And for audio they usually have LPCM tracks (Disney even has been putting out 24-bit!). Close to or absolutely perfect to the master audio.

For titles, I would suggest this starting set:

The Prestige
Pirates of Carribean (x2)
Casino Royale
Crank (HD camera)
Open Season (animation)

Pretty much the best of the best in terms of PQ right there, most with spectacular audio.

Gary

x3 is also very good along with black hawk down and kingdom of heaven. BHDd and KOH aren't as good as CR or POTC but damn they are up there

I'd add Appocolypto to the above list. I saw it last night and it was absolutely awesome in 1080P Blu-ray. I almost felt as if I were there in the jungle with the characters.

hasn't Superman II been released in Europe? Superman II is Warners so it should be all regions anyway so you could import it.

If you're a sci-fi fan, you might want to get Stargate. Great movie, and it spawned an amazing franchise from MGM.

Stargate is actually a title that a lot of people complain about. I have it myself and don't think it's quite as bad as some people make out, but it's not a title that I would use to show off Blu-ray. I thought it was a little soft, but it's not horrible. The movies on the list that was posted are all top notch transfers. I agree about adding Apocalypto to the list also. The picture quality is fantastic
