Default 2nd hand blu rays? still buying HD DVD's?

I have both a blu ray player and an HD DVD player that I've kept hold of. Despite being a dead format, I still pick up the odd HD DVD disc from my local trading shop as they're such good value 2nd hand now imho. For £3, I'm not really complaining if I won't be able to play them in 10 years time. Does anybody else do the same/ Sorry to all you die hards for mentioning the unspeakable format here!

I also find in terms of buying blu rays that I'm quite discerning, now that these days dvd's are so cheap and especially in the current financial climate I find myself not willing to justify paying £20 for a bluray movie no matter how good it may be (jurassic park/lotr aside). It's almost become a point of pride that I haven't paid full price for any of the films I have in HD. Is anybody else here the same?

I voted "I only buy new blu's, but price will prevent a purchase sometimes" and "I've never had an HDDVD player".

I actually only buy sealed blus. It sounds wierd but I hate it when they're not sealed.

I've never owned an HDDVD player. I have considered getting the add-on for the 360 before because the HD-DVDs are so cheap now, but I decided not to because of the added clutter, and having mismatched discs on my shelf LOL

Price is always an issue with me, I will only buy when I can score at least 45% off. This hasn't always been the case, but it has for at least the last six months

I'll buy used Blus as long as I get a first hand look at what I'm buying before hand. I don't buy used online.

I never bothered getting a HD-DVD player. The writing was on the wall about its future.

People forget or they are used to buying strictly retail/Amazon, that you can buy cheap on eBay. That's the only place I go. For what you can find there, it beats Amazon's prices most of the time. I try not to pay over $20.00 for a dvd. $15.00 or less, and it's a steal!

I dont mind if the Blu Rays are used as long as the person who owned them takes as good of care as I do. I have bought used Blu Rays all in perfect condition.

Most of them are usually still sealed.

You don't mind paying $29.99 for a new BD?

No, it's still cheaper than taking the family to the theater.

It seems the supply of used blu's is still a little thin. I've see the same 5 or 6 at blockbuster for weeks, and FYE usually has a slightly better selection.

Good News: People are keeping their blu's

I have not yet bought a used, but the day is coming.

I've only sold one so far, Sleepwalking and that's only because I didn't think I could trade it. There are a couple I've gotten recently like He's Just Not That Into You and Passengers that I may have to trade, will re-watch them at some point first.

I know it's not the right thread, but the only one of my blu's I would trade would be The Departed.

Why is that? I only ask because it's a awesome movie. I own it too but I haven't watched it yet.

IMHO

[Show spoiler]Scorsese likes to fire up all the drama and then kill everyone off in quick and disturbing ways.
Just didn't rub me the right way. I got it as a gift... I had seen it before, and I have yet to watch the blu. Not the format, just the movie...

I've never had an HD-DVD player and I only buy new BD's but price is usually a factor. If it's a movie I really like I don't mind paying "full" price for it, but I will shop around and see who has the lowest price. Otherwise I will wait until it goes on sale for a good price.

I was very pleased to find David Gilmour's "Remember That Night" - Live at The Royal Albert Hall BD used for $19 at F.Y.E. recently - perfect condition with the slipcover and all the inserts. Some really good deals can be had with used BDs. Just have to give them a bit of an inspection first.
