Default Terminator Salvation Start of Trilogy??

McG discusses with MTV in an interview how the ending of Salvation will be quite different from expectations and how he has plans for two more sequels.

From MTV:

“The ending is elliptical. And it challenges the audience. It’s not a happy little bow of an ending at all. The ending is tough and requires reflection, and in some degrees it bifurcates the audience. You walk back to the car and one person thinks it means this, and the other person thinks it means that.”

Or, one person thinks, “that rocked!” and the other believes it sucked, McG – never underestimate geek reactions.

The final section of the film has reportedly changed quite a lot after outbursts surrounding the originally scripted ending.

But one thing’s for sure – as he’s said before, Salvation has been planned as the start of a trilogy. “If we have good fortune we have indeed planned out two more ‘Terminator’ pictures. There’s an arc of story in the new sequels.

“I would never presume there would be another picture - that is up to the audience. But if the audience jumps up and likes it and wants another one, Christian and I have been talking about it and we’ll see what happens.”

What we want now is the DVD to contain both endings in a choose-your-own-adventure-style branching function…

It was always intended as a trilogy. Earlier on it was reported that Bale signed a contract for three films as John Connor and Macus Wright the Terminator with John's skin a la Silence of the Lambs. In case if you think I just spoiled something, I didn't that's the fake ending that leaked. But seriously, he signed for three films.

I love 'em too. As long as Arnold has another cameo, I'll be fine.

Here's the link for Bale doing three Terminator films: http://filmdrunk.uproxx.com/2008/05/...rminators-hehe

anyway
this movie looks to be great (imo)
and if it turns out to be i would love to see two more

and, am i the only one who doesnt care about the rating? or if arnold is in it?
i think it would be a cool tribute to the originals, but if he has a cameo in this one, i dont think he should be involved with the next two
he said himself he wants the series to move on

Actually I read this yesterday, and it looks like they are having a lot of trouble getting Ahnold to work right -

Director McG tells MTV that Arnold Schwarzenegger’s cameo in “Terminator Salvation” is in doubt. You’ll recall that the big guy is due to appear in a scene near the end of the film, reprising his iconic T-800 role. The plan has always been for some effects-wizards to superimpose Arnold’s face over another bodybuilder’s body. And from what I’ve heard, it’s been no easy task.

"We don't know if Schwarzenegger is in the movie or not; it's not clear”, McG says. “I can say that. It's a complicated, delicate balancing act as of now. The jury is still out."

When McG says ‘jury’, he’s referring to the guys at ILM. As of a week ago, they had still not been able to effectively superimpose Schwarzenegger’s mug on top of actor/muscle-man Roland Kickinger’s body. Someone I know that has seen the film – about a month ago now – said the scene that Schwarzenegger would appear in, should ILM complete their mission in time, comes at the tail-end of the film. It’s a fight sequence in an industrial setting involving, of course, a naked T-800 (who we see mostly from behind –probably because they don’t want anyone to see that it isn’t Arnold in the part) and John Connor, going at it. It’s very clear that the character is supposed to be Arnold’s from the first-film, but Kickinger's, er, back and behind, is billed.

So... this could go either way. Either they master the ‘Schwarzenegger effect’ in time for the May release date, or they simply leave ‘the back of Roland Kickinger’ in it – to at least give one the impression they’re seeing Schwarzenegger’s trademark character (even though my source says it’s obvious it’s not Arnold).

I am with you. Just get the mood right! Lots of dread and uncertainty and hopelessnes....dark dark dark.....no fluffy....I'll be happy. The trailers seem to depict this, so I am onboard.

I would LOVE a Terminator future war trilogy with bale.

Yeah, that word could be used too.

If you check on the IMDB the Terminator 5 page is on there. It's listed for 2011.
