Default Star Wars DVD Up-Converted And Future BD Release

I've been watching Star Wars the last few days (got to Episode 4 last night, only 2 more to go). I am watching them again on my Samsung BD and a few things I've notice on them are interesting.

First, for some weird reason Episode 4 (the new version) look so much better then the first 3 with maybe the exception of Episode 3. But the first two aqre not as good it seem to me as Episode 4. My DVD set for the older version of Star Wars is the box set release 5 years ago. Last night I was watching it and I was very surprise at how much better it look then Episode 1 and 2.

Second, I am wondering if once we do get the original 3 movies on BD, we won't be a little disapointed? Now wait before going to hit the reply button and read on . The original movies (specialy the first one in 1977) were made on very low budgets. Last night I was paying close attention to the details and so of it were coming off as rather cheap. I notice at one point the armor of one Stormtrooper looking too much like some cheap plastic What I am thinking is that BD might make all of these details look even more so? What do you think?

Of course don't get me wrong, I want these movies (all 6 of them in BD) and I will still love them until the day I moved on but I am wondering what you all think of this.

Now for the apologies : No I was not looking for an excuse to start a Star Wars thread to get my daily fix and I am sorry if this was in the wrong forum, I truly wasn't sure where to put this.

I'm having trouble following this paragraph. I'm sure it makes sense to you and others, but I get kind of lost. Please clarify for me.

Are you saying that Episode IV looks better than the "first three" meaning I, II, and III (which are the ones with Natalie Portman, Samuel Jackson, et. al) -- or the "first three" as in the original three that came out in the late 1970s and early 1980s?

Oh and I'm wearing my Star Wars polo shirt today. Geek out to the max!

One should never have to apologize for bringing the epic Star Wars subject to the forums. As for the details in BD, I love these movies so much, I am looking forward to seeing just how much detail I can find. After spending most of my life watching behind the scene shows of these movies, including "Jump to Lightspeed", I think it would be kind of fun to see how much you can actually recognize.

Yeah! Just re-read myself and it's none too clear, sorry my English is bad at times. What I mean is A New Hope on DVD upconverted seem to be looking better then Phantom Menace or Attack Of The Clones. Revenge Of The Sith look's amazing and that is one I cannot wait to have on BD. But as I was watching it last night New Hope look better then Episode 1 & 2 which I only watched a few nights before so everything was still clear in my mind. Anyone else notice the same thing?

are you watching A New Hope with the added cgi scenes? I have that set as well(it sucks, but that was the only one available on dvd at the time) but maybe the remastering made a difference

I see now what you're saying. That makes sense, and your original post makes sense as well now. It just gets a little confusing, but that's due in large part to the way the series was numbered and released.

Anyway, I haven't personally experienced it myself as I don't have the DVDs anymore. It'd be an interesting test, though. I've tried hard not to watch any Star Wars on my home theater since I've had HD, because I'm really trying to wait for the BD experience. I slipped a few months back, though, when they played a couple of them on Spike HD.

Yes that is the one. I am still surprise however. I would have expected Phatom, Attack to look much better but they look a bit off at time. It make's you wonder how amazing A New Hope will be once on BD if it's already looking this sharp just on DVD.

I will be watching Empire & Jedi in the next few nights. Yes Sith is pretty hard to beat but I find Clones & Phantom to be a bit off. Maybe it's just me?

I would not expect the original versions to be available on BD, I think the release we got a few years back on DVD (using the old Laserdisc version) will all we will ever see of these old version ever again.

I hear where you're coming from P@t_Mtl. EPIII, to me, is the best PQ of the 6. I would put EPIV's PQ behind EPII, but definitely better than EPI.

I tried this once before. Think I got by for a month, and was so desperate for a Star Wars movie, that I wound up watching all 6 in a row. Thank goodness it was a Saturday.

it has already been pretty much confirmed that IF/when the star wars trilogy comes to bluray, it will be the special editions and will not include the originals, as the former are George Lucas's declared vision for the movie and that is what he considers to be the trilogy in its complete form. sucks
