Nice cover art! I don't have these on DVD, but now that I'm into Blu-ray I'm not buying any more DVDs unless I absolutely can't live without the movie (ahem, LotR extended ) and there are no plans for it to go Blu anytime soon.

Mark me down as waiting for Star Wars on Blu-ray. I refuse to double dip!

I don't see why it would be a surprise that Lucas would double dip these films on DVD again.
I also don't see why it would be a suprise that Blu-Ray isn't forthcoming.

Lucas is not going to release these on Blu-Ray until the installed base ensures that he'll make a killing. He is most certainly not going to release them to help build the format.

We can complain about it until we're blue in the face... but that's all we'll get ... blue in the face.

The only way I can see this re-release being a success is if there are some new special features in them. Otherwise the only people who'll buy the new set are total SW geeks and people who have never bought the movies on DVD before. Not a "killing" by a longshot. Lucas just wants to squeeze the last few drops of milk out of the udder before turning to Blu. Pretty annoying....

It's F'ed up that Laser Disk didn't take off, but got the original Starwars trilogy, and it took like 8 years for DVD to get it and GOD knows how many for Blu-Ray to get it. Thanks Lucas...For nothing.

The last Non-SE Original Trilogy I bought was The Definitive Collection on LD. I picked up the SE's on DVD along w/ the PT of course; but, I passed on the Non-SE OT release on DVD. I'm waiting for Blu for I-VI and all the Clone Wars shows past & present.

Honestly after all the new stuff added to IV-VI that f-ed up i could care less if this ever comes out on blu if and when it does Lucas wont get a dime from me. Niether will Peter Jackson for the Lord of the Rings....well he might get some money for The Frighteners on blu but thats it.
To end rant Star Wars and Lord of the Rings DONOT EXIST to me.

I can understand Star Wars, especially since Lucas cut the "ghost" image of Sebastian Shaw (the original Anakin Skywalker) from the end of "Return of the Jedi" and replaced him with his boy toy Hayden Christensen, who by the way made Anakin out to be a whinny mamma's boy in my opinion; but what on earth did Peter Jackson do to the Lord of the Rings movies? I thought they were as good as a movie can get that's based on a book and the extended versions were even better.

What's the big deal with Star Wars. They (at least the last (or is that first ?)!) were just 2 hour trailers for merchandising and video games. An exercise in making more money for a grubby little man. Just think of all those kids forking out their pocket money on this trash, just to make a wealthy man richer.

They are not movies at all, just adverts for toys!!!

I agree with this post whole-heartedly. In all honesty, as big a fan as I am of Star Wars (the original trilogy), I don't think I'll buy it on blu-ray if/when that day comes. It's not because of THIS INCIDENT alone. I just really see no reason to keep forking money over to this guy.

He messed up one of the most important side stories where Saruman and Wormtounge distroy the Shire and are kill be all the Hobbits of the Shire insted we get them having a f-ing hissy fit and both fall off one of the towers.
That's one of my problems with it. O and even though this made billions New Line is still Freddy's house.

I can understand it because Lucas has been milking this for the last 35 years. Can anyone think of anything else this guy has done besides Star Wars.
