Default Thinking about a Pioneer Elite Receiver and Blu-ray...?

I'm thinking about trading in my Onkyo 805 for a Pioneer Elite SC-07 and my Samsung 1500 for a Elite Blu Ray BDP-05FD. Would you guys do it or do you think I'm fine with my current receiver and player. Please guys all comments are welcomed because this will be a big chunk of money for something that I may see menial gain with my current system that I have now.

Speakers?

Hmm...this could get touchy between the 805 and the sc-05 - but I know you'll get a marked improvement as far as reliability when you switch from the 1500 to the bdp-05, but maybe you should wait for Pioneer's latest blu-ray players in a few months.

The new BD players are on there way, & for $600 you could have the model 23 Elite. The Elite receivers were on sale just last week or so at Best Buy...$1000 for the 05 & $1,200 or $1,300 for the 07! Those are crazy good prices. What display do you have? I'd get a 151 Elite, 05 Elite & 23 Elite, if you have the scratch that is...?

This a tough one I would probably pass though and keep your 805.Sound wise they are about equal, feature wise the pioneer wins hands down the pioneer is more energy effcient and will run cool.I just for the price don't think you have enough to gain from this though especially since you already are using a seperate amp.

I have the Yamaha 663 and also have the Klipsch Reference speakers (RF-82's for fronts and RC-52 for center), and have been thinking of replacing it with the Pioneer Elite SC-07, but I'm not too sure if the sound quality difference would be substantial, or atleast spending $1400 worth. What do you guys thinking?

Also OP, let me know if you get the receiver, I'd like to see your opinions on it.

ummmmm....haha. Well I just did the exact thing you are thinking about doing. I just sold my Onkyo 805 and got a Elite SC-05 (Passed on the SC-07 cause I didn't need the extra 10 watts, THX ultra II which is for bigger rooms, and the dual HDMI output) and I also have Klipsch speakers.

What can I say about my experience...I am glad I did it and would not hesitate to do it again. The Elite is superior to the 805 in every way. Efficiency, features, sound quality, video upscaling, etc. I am totally in love with this thing. The media streaming is awesome, the look is to die for, the usb port in the front is a huge handy little thing, and most of all the sound just completely blows the 805 out of the water. No joke I actually feel like I am in the movie now. It used to be for example when a helicopter was flying over you would hear its sound from the surround speakers then to the fronts, but it just sounded like a sound effect. Now when that same scene happens, I crap my pants and thing theres really a helicopter in my room flying over me. Its just unreal! Then in 2 channel music I hear everything from the lowest snares, pings, whistles, you name it..I hear it now. It also mellowed my Klipsch speakers out a tad too where they sound very very natural now.

So basically what Im trying to say if you haven't already figured it out haha...Is get the Elite receiver. Plus you will be able to sell your 805 real quick and for a good amount too. But as far as the Elite blu-ray players go i would listen to what other people said, wait till the new models come out. But if you have any other specific questions about the switch or other improvements I noticed feel free to ask.

PS. you can also check out my HT gallery and see my old setup with the 805 and new one now with the SC-05.

I have to agree I switched from an Onkyo 805 and 875 to the SC elite and am very very happy with my decision. The sound of the 805/875 does not compare to the SC. IMO the SC has a far far better soundfield, you would not be dissappointed, and as for the 05fd I love that also. The SC with the 05 makes for great CD playback, and I have to say that the upscalling on DVD's is as good as my OPPO or better.

My understanding with the Elite Blu-Ray player is that the only difference between it and the BDP-51FD is gold plated connectors.

And everything I've read says that's just a waste of money.

So essentially you're spending a few hundred more just for the name 'Elite'.

I have the BDP-51FD btw and love it.

Well, this is the new batch due soon. The difference between the 23 Elite & 320 (I'm getting) is price & an aluminum front panel. Big deal. The 05 Elite has "two" HDMI outputs which is sweet, but not for over a $1,000 These are all 2.0 for easy update's & have auto calibration along with 13 picture controls , not to mention internal-decoding & bit-streaming of HD audio! I've got the first 320 as soon as it appears.

No problem. Well I first put it on ebay and then was affraid I wasn't going to get that much for it, so I also put it on craigslist and put $600obo. I knew I wasn't going to get $600 for it but I also didn't want people to offer me like $350 and $400 so I keep saying things like "in financial trouble so I need to sell it" or "please make me an offer", things of that sort. That way it seems like I'm really trying to get rid of it. So then I ended up getting tons of offers and finally someone offered me $500 and I was like "sold!" haha.

I think on ebay the average selling price is $425 but then you have ebay and paypal fees plus you have the headache of shipping it. So put it on craigslist and always start higher, at least $100-$150 more than you want for it. That way people can think they are bartering you down.

But jump on the Elite before its gone cause you will always be able to sell the 805.
