CANADA!
Default Who has a Dell Hybrid? Got a couple questions...

Y'ello all! In the market for a new HTPC. We currently are using a MacMini right now... but are going to be putting that as our main PC. So we're looking for a new HTPC.

We do not need anything super fancy... just something that will play our music... and be able to surf the web the odd time/check email.

A buddy at work says the little Dell Hybrid's would be perfect... but figure Id come here to check with you all and see if anyone here has used them or has one? And what do you think of em?

Like I said it'll be mainly for music... FLAC files... and a few MP3's @ 320...

Cheers in advance

My wife uses this little computer from Dell (which she actually purchased from QVC) and it has performed flawlessly. Has everything you could possibly want (except a BD drive, which I am sure you could get)!!

I'm also considering going this route, but I haven't decided between this and the Mac Mini to replace my current Dell SX260 (which is a small form factor computer just like the Hybrid is).

I've heard mixed reviews on the Hybrid, which is one reason why I haven't made an official decision yet. Here's a final review that member flyfree432 wrote: link. So it looks like you'd be OK.

Now Im sort of thinking... that if I bought a server... I know HP makes a home server... what I could do is transfer music from out PC (upstairs) to our server (basement) and then just play everything off our PS3, connected to the server... would that work too????

I almost bought one but decided not to for a couple reasons. One it is virtually un-upgradable. One of the most important features in a home theater pc is the video card witch you cannot upgrade at all. I ended up building a dell studio slim and am extremely happy with it. Not only was I able to get alot more features, but I also saved a lot of cash. Heres another good review to look at.
