Valkyrie Profile / Gamestop boneheads

Apologies if this borders on Off-Topic.

So while Gamestop was having their Buy 2 get 1 promo, I saw the shell for Valkyrie Profile Lenneth sitting on the shelf. I grab it right away, along with 11 others.

Come check out time, they tell me that while the case is there, and it's in their system, the disc is nowhere to be found. I ask if I can still get a raincheck on the savings, or get a call if they discover it, and they tell me no. They also go and assume it was a inventory error in their system.

Christmas day: I get the game from my parents , albeit used with no packaging. I figure I'll call up GameStop the day after and ask for theirs. Now they tell me they threw it out.

Threw it out?! That's a rare game. It's WORTH SOMETHING! Idiots.

Lucky for me, somebody was selling their Valkrie Profile Lenneth case/manual w/ no disc on ebay for 6 bucks.

GS has some of the worst customer service i have ever experienced in my life. I stopped asking them questions long ago. i can only think of a few of their employees who are not douche bags. Customer service is one thing, but when it comes to douche bag employees, GS is unrivaled.

I really do wish there was another major game seller. Mergers can be good or bad, but GS+EB..bad. About the only direct competition to Gamestop are the occasional indies, but even those have been vanishing.

One such death was Shakepeare's Games for Less at the Trumbull mall. This store was so old school they had an Atari 5200 on their demo screen circa 2001.

I still remember the time I traded in my copy of Ar Tonelico 2 with art book and CD soundtrack. They threw the box, art book and CD in the trash and put just the regular case on the shelf. Not sure why they don't keep any of the extra goodies; you'd think they would help sell the game.

I would think so too. Did they throw those things out right in front of your face? I'dve fished them out of the garbage and said "forgot my extras."

I remember a time it was the opposite at this very same store. I at one point got Shining Wisdom and Dragon force as discs only, then I saw the big cases at this store on the shelf, they said I could have them free of charge. Now they won't even sell me packaging for a price even when the game was acquired from them. I have an incomplete copy of Fatal Frame 1, and I've been seeing shells for it everywhere.

They did ask me if I wanted to keep the extra stuff since they were just going to throw it out.

I usually don't even look at the games without cases/instructions. Unfortunately, that's starting to become the majority of their used game selection.

Maybe it was just a way of saying you shouldn't have got rid of it.(notice the avatar pic) But in all seriousness though the Gamestop computer when it mentions Ar Tonelico II it mentions as the whole premium pack so pretty much it has to come with the artbook and soundtrack when they resell it. But the trade in value drops like crazy like I remember when it was like $15 to trade in Ar Tonelico II and now it's like $5. I really wish they could give me a higher position then i'm in now.

Neither do I; Fatal Frame was a gift.
