Dumb Question, I don't own a PS3 but was wondering. - Blu-ray Forum

I know that the systems have hard drives in them, is it possible to connect an external hard drive to it?

I've heard of alot of people doing it but I haven't figured out how to do it yet. Maybe someone on here knows how. I have also heard of people ripping Blu Ray movies on to the PS3 hardrive I can't figure that out either.

The BD one is hard, expecially if you have no knowledge with linux, but it is possible

i use a 500GB external i plug in. i don't know what there is to get. just put the USB cable in. and it reads the hard drive... ???

It's also possible to change the internal drive; mine is a 320Gb now. It's perfectly safe, even the official PS sites tell you how to do it

yup. Even the manual that the ps3 comes with tells you how to do it. It's really easy actually.

For the external HD it's really easy. The only "trick" is that it has to be formatted in FAT-32 or the PS3 won't recognize it.
