I just keep reading (regarding break in) keep the brightness/contrast low. How low is low?
I'll be getting the TV on Thurs, running the break in images (SD card) any time that I'm not watching the TV, but the settings for the break in images are incredibly HIGH [VIVD, contrast 100, brightness 55, etc] and are explicitly stated to be turned off when not using the images (which I totally understand). The problem is, I can't find any EXACT settings for the first 200 hours regarding the "low" contrast and brightness everyone recommends. I don't mean to be annoying, but I really like to have EXACT numbers (ie: put it on THX, with brightness to xX, contrast to XX, etc) so I know I'm not going to F something up. Even without exact settings, what exactly do them mean when they say low? Is watching in THX mode acceptable during these first 200 hours? If not, what would be the best setting (the only one I know is a no-no is vivid). THAAAAANKS! |

I'm using those settings during the SD card slideshow, BUT, you can't use those settings when watching regular content because it will result in rediculous burn-in |

Oh my mistake, I see what you were asking now. Yeah I would just use the settings I posted for SD card break in and THX mode for all other times.

How low is low?
Breaking in a plasma isn't an exact science. Since no manufacturers have provided any data regarding plasma break-in, it's anyone's guess as to what settings you should use when doing so. Not to ruffle any feathers, but since no manufacturers (that I am aware of) still recommend breaking in plasma TVs I question the need to even do so. Perhaps I'm wrong and will pay the price. I have had my contrast at 85 and my brightess at 58 since day one and I have yet to observe any image retention. |
