I heard a demo at Mark Levinsons company (in his office) Cello Music and Film.
It was a "simple" setup but it sounded amazing.
I was spoiled after that and nothing sounded good to me for a very long time lol

Martin Logan Purity electrostats.

If its one flaw I find I have during my listening sessions, it was never to listen to stuff way out of my range. I didn't want to set my reference point too high and always be wanting. So I tried to keep it semi-reasonable, despite the fact that I knew I'd never be spending more than $1,500 a speaker anytime soon. But that's changing this summer. My horizons shall be expanded! My range of speakers that I've listened to include these brands and most of their sub-$3,000/pr lineups:

-JBL
-Polk
-Klipsch
-DefTech
-Mirage
-Paradigm
-Bowers & Wilkins
-PSB
-Martin Logan
-Anthony Gallo
-Yamaha
-Focal
-Infinity
-Energy
-KEF

...this summer, Monitor Audio and Swan are on my list. Revel, if I can get close enough to the damnable things. I've been told to go treat myself to Sonus Faber as well.

I know prerich would tell me to go and listen to whatever I could get my ears on. But I don't want to spoil myself with what I can't have just yet!

If we're talking about a serious listen in half-decent surroundings (as opposed to shows that can make the best sound mediocre), the best speaker I've had the pleasure of listening to is the MartinLogan Spire. I am fortunate enough to have a pair in my music room (which, judging by the photo, should be tidied up a bit...):

While i was still into audiophile gear, the best speakers that left an impression were a pair of Avantgarde Acoustic Trios sometimes in the 90's.

Good thing your budget expanded, because compared to most of the other electrostats by martin logan, those aren't even mildly impressive.

My favorite speakers I have ever heard are Sonus Faber Cremona's and the Wilson Audio Alexandria.

Test budget, sokrman, test budget! And heck, it simply at a Best Buy, playing Aerosmith CDs, off an Elite 05 or 07, if I remember. I'm fearful of getting too greedy.

I couldn't agree more on my TV size! Luckily, the 21" CRT in the picture doesn't get used much. My other TVs are 32" LCDs (admittedly only a bit better), to one of which I've connected my PS3. And yes, I do own those Spires. :-)

I have only so much disposable income (well, had: I'm between jobs at the moment, so my disposable income is about $0 for the time being...) and as much as I love movies, I love listening to music more. So for now, all of my spending money will be spent on 2 channel audio. With the upgrades I have in mind, I need to save a lot of cash!

Magnepans, amazing sound from a very affordable speaker, I'm planning a 2 channel setup around them with a YBA 2 Pre and power amp.

I have listened to many speakers over the years. I used to visit many dealers and audio/video shows. I will only mention a few speakers as they made a lasting impression on me.

I caught the audio bug many years ago as a young student when Paul Klipsch (RIP) demonstrated one of his Klipschorn speakers in New York. He is responsible for making me spend thousands of dollars over the years on audio/video equipment. I should take Klipsch company to court.

Im glad you have been able to expand your budget, because you will find a speaker that will make you happier than those. They're not a bad speaker, but definitely not a great electrostat from Martin Logan standards.
