Default Anyone heard of Nuance speakers?

I have Nuance front and centre speakers. My sub & surrounds are Sound Dynamic. Both makes are made in Canada. They sounded ok when hooked up to my old Harmon Kardon & 1st gen. Sharp BD. Now they are hooked up to a Onkyo 507 & Samsung 3600 BD and they sound amazing. I'm posting this because all I've read about these speakers is they are crap! I know sound is subjective. I'd like another opinion on the speakers.

tks

As long as they sound great to you then that's all that matters.

They are fine if you can get them 2nd hand for cheap. They aren't worth anywhere near their retail price.

I bought them new around 2000 or 2001. Forgot what I paid. Lost the invoice.

Yes.... and No....

I had a set of speakers I thought were the bee's knees, and felt that way for a long time..... then I started auditioning other speakers.....

so "Yes" if you've listened to other speakers, and you still think they sound good..... then that is all that really matters....... If every speaker you've heard, including the garage-sale find that your buddy bought for $5 at a garage sale sound better than your speakers....... then you may want to shop for new toys.

I personally have never heard these speakers either..... so I'm not making any back-handed insults about them.... just relaying my experience with an old set of speakers I had (and yes....a $200 Piece of junk all-in-one spark-o-matic setup sounded better than mine, and I paid probably $2,000 or so for my speakers/receiver )

EDIT:

I do have some big "cool-looking" speakers in my dark dingy basement for when I'm playing foosball

Nuance are made by a small Canadian company (now out of business, I think). So I guess not many made it to the U.S.A If I remember, they were sold out of large electronic stores through out Canada.

I demo'ed these back in the early 2000's with a friend who was looking to buy them... they had the demo room set up with only the 2 MASSIVE towers (as tall as me). There were no surrounds going but when the demo disc played we could here a sleigh being pulled by horses with bells on them and it did a full 360 of the room, just from fronts it was pretty incredible actually.. Now the speaker package was 15 grand so we said good day..

I have seen them in some pawn shops (cash converters) out near me.

I think a lot of people confuse Nuance for Fluance the Fluance are the white van speakers - I purchased a pair of Nuance towers online a few years ago when I went from 5.1 to 7.1 ran them as my mains with Mission sub, center and surrounds and they were great for an inexpensive speaker, well worth the money spent - I think it was $250 shipped at the time - Of course I like my Paradigms more

Angry Nuance audio speakers lawsuit

August 10, 2004
International Stereo charged with unfair business practices

Edmonton...International Stereo Centre Ltd. faces 17 charges under the province's Fair Trading Act for unfair business practices in its dealings with Alberta consumers.

The charges fall under nine sections of the Fair Trading Act, including unreasonably deceiving or misleading a consumer, stating a transaction involves rights or remedies that are different from the fact and entering into contracts when the seller knew or ought to have known the consumer was not reasonably able to pay for the goods.

The Alberta government laid the charges after investigating allegations the company had entered into transactions with consumers who could not reasonably afford to pay the full price for the goods offered. This resulted in an expanded investigation into other areas of alleged misconduct. Since 2003, the government has received 49 consumer complaints involving the company from across Alberta and other areas.

International Stereo's first provincial court appearance is scheduled for September 29, 2004 in Edmonton.

Consumers who have purchased a product from International Stereo and have concerns about the sale are advised to contact Government Services' Consumer Information Centre toll-free at 1-877-427-4088.

Consumers have the right under the Fair Trading Act to fair treatment before, during and after any transaction with a business for a product or service. Information on Albertans' consumer rights and remedies under the Fair Trading Act are outlined in Government Services' tipsheets, available at http://www.servicealberta.gov.ab.ca.

The Fair Trading Act's penalty provisions include fines of up to $100,000 or up to three times the amount obtained by the offence and/or up to two years in prison upon conviction.
