Default HT Upgrade advice needed

Hi Guys,

I'm upgrading my amplifier and moving to the Denon AVC-A1HD (or the 5308CI in the US). My current DVD player has coincidentally broken down last week as well so i'm looking for a replacement.

Since this reciever has a *****y Realta video processing chip, i would think that any average DVD player would be sufficient. For Blu, i can continue to use my PS3. To my mind, any significant investment in a DVD player with additional features/tech would be money down the drain as the A1HD is capable of doing all the "work".

What is the best DVD player to couple this with?? I'm not looking for any brand suggestions, but just what it must have e.g. hdmi (of course), onboard Dolby and DTS (HD) decoding? ability to pass through an interlaced signal, etc

Is there any reason why you don't want to use your PS3 for regular DVDs? Maybe I'm missing something here but is there any benefit for having a regular stand alone DVD player if you have a PS3?

maybe he prefers to not 'use' the ps3 primarily as a dvd player as well. its a matter of preference at this point.

aside from the standard issue response id have with investing in an oppo, id also consider the growing number of philips upscaling dvd owners out there having a great response too.
