Obligatory: You can build that same rig for yourself for worlds cheaper than what the boutique retailers like Alienware charge.

But yes, that is pretty sweet.

Agreed. Good package for the folks who don't want to build one, but their stuff costs an arm and a leg.

I would just get the parts from Tigerdirect.com and build it...or better yet, just use the money to buy a Mac (once they start including Blu-Ray drives)

I abandoned Alienware when Dell bought them out. There customer service went to shit when that happened. I talked to them both before and after the buy-out about a desktop from them (I bought it when they were still independent of Dell). On both occassions is was out of warranty, but when they were just Alienware, that didn't matter. When they were bought out, the customer service changed from Hispanic people (the company's based in Miami) to Dell's Indians (not a pun, but the cust. service is in India), and they wouldn't talk to me.

I'm done w/ that company, I just cannot stand Dell. I have my reasons, and I'm not trying to be incendiary here, just stating my point of view. Still though, nice to see that the gaming PC's are taking hold of Blu-ray, computer gamers are a fiercly picky bunch, and demand the best.

When my Dell crashed 2 years ago, I had to go through support 7-8 different times to convince them it was toast. Each run through was 30-90 minutes, no joke. And they always used the same original script... in other words, it was likethe first 5-6 tries never happened. it was infuriating. After the first 2 times i would just fake the routine ("uh huh, yeah I'm doing that.... nope, didn't work"). On the final try they escalated to an actual American guy who determined in 180 seconds my PC was in fact toast.

Good news, they had to give me a new up to date system to replace my almost 4-yr-old system. Nice, but what a pain.

HP bought out VoodooPC, which was pretty good, did they not? How are they doing these days?

Falcon Northwest is still independent last I checked. I know they make awesome rigs.

The Dell buyout of Alienware pretty much takes them out of my consideration as well.

^^ I also know that all of the above are VERY expensive!
