Default Who puts items on their speakers?

I have seen so many awesome set-ups here. I have also seen some really nice furniture and taste and decor people use in their HT. However, I have seen a lot of pics in the galleries of members with "stuff" on their speakers. So, I want to know if you do/do not put itmes on your speakers and if so, why?

For myself, I love aesthetics and a very clean and balanced look. I appreciate minimalism, and do not put anything on my speakers and I really like the way this looks than with anything on them. But this is just me.

Hell no! In fact, when my wife sets something on a surround, I gently remind her that it's a speaker, not a table.

No one should go near my speakers but me.

The only item that is placed on any of my speakers is two stuffed American beanie baby animals and they are on my sub woofer so not a big deal. wouldn"t put anything a speaker that would cause undo vibrations or noise. All the speaker sets i have in the house are wall mounted or in-walls so no other opportunity to do so.... See the set-ups in my gallery pictures....

My subwoofer is also an end table. Everyone started thinking it was so we just ran with it.

I don't put anything on mine normally. I'm concerned about vibration and rattling, and like you, I also like the clean look. At Christmas time, my wife puts a couple of small stuffed reindeer on the surround speakers, but it's no biggie, and it's temporary. I have seen some HT's though that have a nice theme, and certain ones have items on the speakers that go with the theme and look very nice.

It's not my wife I have to worry about, it's my 4 yr old who leaves all kind of items scattered about the room when I am away at work. Then when I come home she has some toy on this speaker, another stuffed animal on the sub, etc....and she says I can't move them because they are looking out for a mean troll???? LOL!!!

Tell her you're the troll and they'll disappear if they don't get outta there.

It's funny- my daughter and my dog are both really careful about going near them. My dog'll play with a toy and toss it over there and she'll stop, look at the toy, look at me, and then quickly go get it and get out.

I occasionally did in the past, but no longer. Just doesn't feel right.

yea don't have to many issues with the dogs because they don't like the loudness when i watch movies so even when we are not watching movies they stay clear...every once in awhile my husky will sit in the middle of the room and chase the sounds around the room it is a hoot to watch.....

Thumbs up

Very funny thread! Nothing gets near my B&W's. No Star Wars figures, no action figures, no army men, or GI Joe action figures. No McDonaldland bobble heads. Nothing! Oh and I don't have kids these are my toys that I have in the basement !

My wife wrote the check for my ML's so she is more protective of them than I am and I stand guard with a gun and/or blunt instrument when the grand-kids or company are visting.

I was about to state that I hate seeing things on my speakers. I don't want them scratched!

But then I realized I have something of every speaker!!!!

I deliberately put a stuffed toy on every speaker to avoid people leaving beer bottles and party plates on them.

On one speaker I also have a set of rabbit ears for free HDTV over the air.

I am very lucky. My wife and kids know that they cannot touch any of the HT gear. They can watch movies and play PS3 games when I am not there in exchange for them not placing anything on top of the speakers, subwoofers, etc. If anybody does it, it's me.

Not a speck on or near, I even I dust once a week

I'm single and own my house so I'm lucky enough to not have WAF or sound level issues. Just don't try to call me during a movie- I WILL NOT hear the ringer.
