Hey guys I'm finally going to purchase some posters for my theatre room. I was thinking on ordering from moviegoods.com Is a standard size poster 27 x 40 ? because the 11 x 17 would be to small wouldn't it? Also if anyone knows a better site to order from (remember I'm in Canada) could you please let me know thanks. Also some posters have a style letter but look the same. Does anyone know what the difference is between styles, (like style b and style c?)
Thanks again |

Yes, 27x40 is generally considered the standard size. I can't say if 11x17 would be too small, it is all a matter of taste. Personally, I have a few 11x17 posters along with a 27x40 and they look very good. Not too big, not too small. I'm pretty sure everything that moviegoods.com sells are reproductions, not original posters but most people can't tell the difference in quality nor do they usually care. However, if you care a lot about memorabilia and are willing to pay a bit more, you will want to make sure the poster you are purchasing is an original. Usually if it is an original the poster will be double sided (aka. DS or DS-One Sheet) with a mirrored image on the opposing side. Ebay can be a pretty good place to find some posters (reproductions and originals). Make sure you checkout the seller's feedback first though. Sorry, don't know anything about the different styles you mentioned. Take care, Mark |

I used to work in a movie collectibles store when I was a teen-ager--
movie posters (original ones) always came in the 27 x 40 size and were called "one-sheets". There were many times when the original posters came in more than 1 version with different artwork (there would be the original and most common version and there would be alternative versions called "style A" or "style B"-- these were worth more to collectors because they were harder to find. Even if you are looking at reprints they still may be called style B because they are a replica of that version. I have a lot of stuff I bought back then but unfortunately I typically don't hang them on my walls because of pinholes, tape, and the vulnerabilty of these collectors items. My movie room is covered with replicas in a variety of sizes or original movie memorabilia in glass (and therefore protected frames. Happy shopping! |
