Good to watch movies with an HD Pj, but a big size TV is a "must" in the lvg room!

OK, the projection nights are good. Sometimes unique. But we all need the relaxation in the living room, against a large size TV set, which will give us long term satisfaction, whether this is sports, TV series or even movies.

With that in mind, I have decided to go for a Plasma 50" to 60", preferably a Pioneer Kuro, even if these become obsolete next year.

However, I am trying to balance between a KRP-500/600 and a PDP-LX5090H/LX6090H. Both models are the latest Pioneer Kuros, but the KRPs are more expensive.

I know that:

1) Both are Kuro models
2) They use they same video processing engine (as far as I was informed)
3) The KRP-600 (or KRP-500 if speaking for a 50") is much thinner
4) The KRP models are more expensive than the LX ones

I don't know:

1) If they both carry the same panel, and if one panel is different from the other, which one is of the latest generation
2) If there are real differences in picture, especially with HD material
3) If the price difference between the two models is really justified
4) If the KRP models are more "delicate" that the LX ones (since they are thinner) and therefore prone to damages or defects

Has anyone seen any of these and if possoble both of them, to get to a conclusion?

P.S.:
I need to specify that the new set is meant to replace a 38" Sony ES CRT, which is still an excellent device and is giving very impressive picture for the SD 4:3 TV channels in PAL system, that it is still active in Europe.
