Arrow Theatre or home viewing?

How do you prefer to watch movies? At the movie theatre or at home? I prefer at home because there's no crowd and I can use subtitles.

or get in there for the 1st showing on a Sunday...all the little buggers are sleeping in, plus the price is right!

If I can avoid it, I stay away from the theater but with Star Trek, I might just have to go see it.

I tend to see the big blockbusters in the summer and wiat for everything else on blu-ray. I personally find the home viewing to be better.

My local theater is the worst I've even been to.

I went to the next town over on recommendation of friends but must have still picked a craptastic theater.

There's no slope to the seats... the screen it just way up there. The AC competes effectively with the sound. The film looks like it was in use from 1929 even though the movie came out 2 weeks ago. The screen has obvious damage and the movie is not all projected onto the screen I can see a bit of it off to the left in the curtains.

I'm not exaggerating. Since leaving Bay Area Ca (Where I loved the Metreon for example) I have been to see only Hitchcock and Quantum and both times because I had movie cash from buying Blus.

Even so... I didn't feel like I saw either one till I watched it at home.

I will only go to the theater for huge movies that I really want to see. Last movie I saw in the theater was Dark Knight. I just don't like the theater atmosphere and I'd rather sit on my couch and watch the movie. I'll probably go to Terminator next weekend, and other movies I'll probably go to include Transformers, Harry Potter, Bruno, and GI Joe.

For more than a few reasons - home.
Better seating.
No crowds/idiots.
Pause/RW.
Snacks are WAY cheaper and better selection.
Show times are on *MY* schedule.
With my portable machines, I can watch movies where ever I wish - in 1080p!
[Show spoiler]I can even watch Blu-ray while sitting on the toilet!

Overall, @ $20-$24 per disc, it is more cost effective to watch at home.

I always see the huge blockbusters in the theater first, but I'm fairly selective about which I see. I like both settings, for different reasons. I do not like the cost of the theater, but it's nice to get away from the house sometimes and experience dinner and a movie out with the wife -- with no possibility of being bugged by kids, specifically.

Obviously, though, it's nice to pop in a Blu and kick back in one's own home theater. Wearing slippers, sofa seating, the ability to pause if necessary, eat dinner in comfort if I so choose, etc. etc. etc.

The only time that I goto the theater is on a Sunday or Monday first showing, usually for the big blockbusters other than that no reason to.

Same as most who posted. I like to watch movies I really want to see.

Now that I buy movies, there's no need to all the time.

I spent thousands of dollars on my home theater, so home for me.
I have not been to a movie theater in years and I don't want to. I really do not enjoy the theater experience anymore, especially the sound of hundreds of people shoving popcorn into their mouths...makes me cringe.

That's hilarious. OCD much? Join the club! Don't forget about the "scents" of tons of other people all stuffed in the same room.

Reminds me of my horrible trip to see 300 back in 2007. Sitting in the second row from the front, next to a guy who smelled like he'd never showered in his life...definitely didn't help me enjoy a movie I doubt I'll ever see again.

LOL. Thanks for the welcoming me to the club.
And for a guy, I have a great nose to smell all the nasties. Also, I always wonder if I can get lice off the back seat where everyone lays their head.

My house ... 95% of the time. The 5% is for movies like TDK on imax for example.
