Hi,
Now that the UFC demo is on the store, I was wondering what everyone thought. I am pretty excited for this game to come out, the previous UFC games were alright, but not anything to cheer about. The amount of time and detail they seem to be putting into the game gives me cautious optimism. I played the demo last night, and was a bit disappointed you could only choose between 2 fighters, but nonetheless everything loaded fairly quick. The graphics were very well done and the sound was pretty good. The gameplay was alright, seemed a lil...sluggish maybe...and the controls are pretty complex. Figuring out how to block, transition, take down, etc all while either standing, on your back, on top, etc will take some getting use to. I tried on the first 2 difficulties and found them pretty easy to get knockouts. The only really lame part was that in any replay of head kicks, it looked like this: http://www.movie-moron.com/?p=331&page=18 Thanks |

I've been a big fan of MMA for a long time now, so I've been following this game closely since announced, but with reservations after previous efforts. All of the previously released videos, which fell well short of the old E3 Chuck vs Rampage render left me disappointed.
But I eagerly downloaded and played the demo for awhile, and I like it. It's far from perfect, but it the potential for a lot of fun is there. Multiplayer with a bunch of friends will be great, easily replaces Fight Night Round 3 as the go to fighting game. Shogun was absolutely wrecking my shit on expert, near impossible for me to get him off me once he eventually pulls guard on me, sweeps and gets to mount. I'll definitely be buying the game next month, after getting a lot more practice in on the demo until then. |

Where was the difficulty setting? I was looking for it last night to try and make the game more challenging, but didn't see it when I paused the game. Maybe I have to set it before starting?
I probably played the game about 15-20 times, half as Chuck, and half as Shogun. It was strangely addicting to just keeping kicking people in the head, but after a while I realized I was never going to lose, or even have to take it out of the 1st round, so I wanted to try making the game harder. |

I thought it was okay.
It's not a $60 title though. If it were $29.99 I'd probably consider it. As it stands, I'll wait until it hits bargain status (probably quickly) and decide then. For now, I'll stick to watching some MMA action now and then. |

I found the difficulty settings on the main screen, under options. I believe there were 4 or 5 to choose from. |

I agree, $60 is a bit steep as it stands now, up here we would be paying $70 for new titles, so that is definitely too much IMO

Yeah I agree with most of you..
I played it about 6 times last night , with shogun and liddel... It did seem very easy even with it set on a harder difficulty.. I liked it for the most part.. Its not as smooth as say fight night is.. The controls are a little stiff. I dont know if it was just me but I didnt see many moves.. you got the 2 basic punches and 2 kicks.. not much variations... did I miss something?? I may pick this one up.. but first I want to see what all the reviews are on this.. and what people think after they play it... |

I was very impressed with this game...setting it on advanced and running through the tutorial a couple of times is key. The amount of flexibility and the unique nature of each fight is impressive...for the people who say it's sluggish or slow...have you ever watched a Pride or UFC fight (not being a jerk)?
This isn't street fighter it's not meant to be quick, if you want to run around the ring just click L3. For me it feels better than fight night 3...I feel like in that game you only moved the upper part of your body. This is a day one for me, but I'm a huge fan. My bold prediction is that this title is going to sell a lot more than people think...may even give fight night a run for its money. There are a lot of punch and kick variations depending on how far you are away from your opponent. Also, if you hold L1 and L2 you get another set of variables. For the guy above who thought it was a bit basic, I did too, at first. If you pause the game, you can view a list of moves, and it actually gets a bit deeper, if you want to memorize some button combos, but I decided to just stick to kicking people in the head (which was just L1 + ![]() ![]() One thing nobody's mentioned, which I thought was one of the best parts of the game, is the audio. This has some of the best commentary I've heard in any sort of sporting game, because it sounds so realistic. So then it was no surprise when I watched an interview online where one of the producers mentioned that about 70% of the commentary is pulled straight from real UFC broadcasts. You can definitely tell when the commentators are reading off of a script in a sports game, and this sounds nothing like that. |

I've watched UFC from the days of Gracie and Severn and I think what most people mean when they say it's slow/sluggish (at least for me) is the execution of some moves. For me the pacing of the game is good, but there just seems to be something that doesn't feel right...hopefully its polished a bit more before release. Thanks |

I didn't think it was too slow.
However, if you've watched MMA action, you know it varies. Take UFC 97. The fights were all pretty good until the main event where the first 2 rounds were literally nothing but dancing in a circle (crowd was even booing). So, it can be slow or fast.....Liddell is intense tonight...he's got this fight under control...no wait, he just caught one to the chin...he's down.....and here's his "I might retire" speech. ![]() When people say it's sluggish, I think they're referring to the actually character model movement rather than MMA action. |

Very nice graphically and quite challenging on harder difficulties, the ground game is ridiculously detailed and intense with all the counters/submissions. Fun for button smashers, even more fun for those who like to play more tactical. Grab a friend and play against each other, its even more fun!

I hate watching Anderson Silva fight...I saw him fight Cote at Allstate Arena and he pulled the same crap..he was dancing around so much that Cote tore his ACL haha. Don't get me wrong he's an amazing fighter but @ $400 a ticket it was the worst money I've ever spent.
