your links provide options for a decent platform to build on, however, I would explore some larger speakers for your mains. There are definately thousands of places to shop around, especially if your in LA, you can go to many A/V resellers to audition speakers for yourself. Take a look at newegg.com and check out the Polk full range floor standing speakers, and maybe you can fit one of those models into your budget. All things considered, you should clarify what room your dealing with, whether you live in apartment, or house, or whatever. If neighbors are an issue, then you may want to go a little smaller since your not going to be blasting the volume. Then again if you have a house, the sky is the limit. Of course what I just said does not apply to crazyblue!

The receiver you picked is $300 leaving you $350 for speakers & a sub. Personally I wouldn’t settle as it will cost you more in the long run. I would piece it together so you get the most bang for your buck. You can at least start a solid set-up with $650 though.
For speakers Newegg still has the Cherry monitor 50's at 99.99 a piece for fronts (free shipping). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882290014 You will still need a center. For this I would suggest the Cherry CS10 center for $80 (shipped) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882290021 So for the receiver you picked out, two monitor 50’s, and CS10 center you are looking at having about $70 remaining. Once you purchase all wires lets say $50 remaining. I would bank that money for some decent surrounds and a sub. I personally IMHO think you will be much happier in the long run taking this route. *For a starter sub you could pick up a PSW10 for $100 but understand that this is a STARTER sub and you may want to upgrade this down the line or add another. This would put you a bit over budget however. |
