Hero will be released in Spain on June 9. It is released by Sony-Columbia Tristar. Early info seems to indicate English subtitles and that it is region free. It would also appear to be the Theatrical version only, and not the Director's cut.

I would really be interested to know if the PQ would be the same as the current Dutch release. The video quality is a 3/5 at best with an over abdunace of grain (and I usually have no problem with grain). From what I gather, the original source is like that as all current DVD releases aren't very good so I hope some type of minor restoration goes into it. The HD DVD Dutch import I have is a minor upgrade over DVD, but it seems like it could be better. The German Blu-ray Director's cut version's PQ is actually worse than the Dutch version in BD and HD DVD.

Well, after a long delay, this was suppose to come out on Sept. 29, but no online store seems to have gotten stock. Sony Spain's website has a page for it but no specs (a bad sign since all the other releases on the same day carry specs). FNACes says 3-6 days, Starscafe has out of stock, and DVDGO has 3-10 days pending stock.

There has been no update on ZonaDVD about any kind of delay. I wonder if any of the member of this forum from Spain have any further insight into this release or any possible delay? Would it be possible for any member from Spain to email ZonaDVD or Sony Spain to see if they can inquire about what happened to this release? It would be deeply appreciated

Starscafe says its in stock now.

I want to know if Sony did a restore job like Miramax did.

Obviously sound is important, but video is paramount.

ahsoka at HDD said it uses the same transfer as the pre-Miramax versions (so I assume the Dutch/French versions), has the proper English subs ("All Under Heaven" subs) and has a Mandarin DTS track (at 1.5mbps). So no lossless and bad PQ, but proper subs. I think I will wait for the HK or Japanese version.
