Default Why does it take so long?

Can someone tell me why it takes so long from load to play.

Just read a review that said . . "excellent load times . .1 min, 4sec . ."

What exactly needs to be read or scanned that takes over a minute
to start the movie ?

It depends on the player, which brand and model number are you using? Also, are you trying to play a disc with java?

Why? does java slow the travel of the scanner and increase load times?

Because two years ago, BD had games(java) and other useless content.

Now my load times are faster on discs that have no or less java.

Never really bothers me about the load time. I've learned to pop it in, then go do something else for a few minutes, then come back.

But it is weird how long it takes.

How does ps3 make it work so well? I have a sony 301 and a ps3 and just waiting for the 301 to turn is longer than it takes me to get a movie open the case and put it in the ps3 and start watching it.

My Samsung 1400 takes forever just to open the BD tray.

yeah, same here....thats why I've sold that bastard off and upgraded to the 1600, should be arriving any day now. It was a good player, but those load times were so long I felt like my player was becoming almost archaic.

The PS3 has a gaming processor in it whereas most, if not all, stand-alones do not. The player is loading all the java scrip files and the menu system into memory off the disc. There's 50gigs of info on that disc so it will take a varying amount of time depending on how fast the player's processor, buss and memory are.

That is what I do as well! Question? Is there a way to delete all this "loaded" information, or do I even need to delete it? I have the Sony BD-550 and it has a 1gb chip.

Hmm thats strange, mines pretty quick. It must be your brand or something? Other than that I have no clue what the problem could be.

LOL! An image came to my mind of an old man that said " When blu ray came out I would put in the disk, go mow the lawn, run to the liquor store, stop by the gas station to fill up and get a pack of smokes, hit Sonic for my burger, get home load up the cooler with ice and use the bathroom, call my brother long distance, water the lawn and then the damn thing would be ready to watch ! "

ROFLMAO!

My BD35 is about 15 seconds from On to Tray Open, but its pretty quick. Not a bother, but then again not even remotely close to PS3 speed. The new Oppo is supposed to be incredibly fast.

Ok, so what is the FASTEST BD player?

Which is the best quality BD player?

What do you all prefer for a good, but also FAST BD player?

...FAST as in load times and all that...

I love my PS3, but I'm thinking of buying a stand-alone...

I always thought it was strange how there was even a "loading" time for my Sony upconverting DVD player that I used to use before BD.

I had an older Sony DVD player (from 2000) which played DVD instantly. It was and still is no slouch of a DVD player, either.
