Default Long long time before good PQ HD downloads...

I just wanted to share my point of view. I just got my new Dish Network HD service and by far BDs look way way better, yes of course 1080p vs 1080i (and I clearly doubt it, I know the play/download rate and bandwith for satellite has a lot to do about it). I am thinking, If HD satellite service looks not as good as BDs, HD downloads still have a long road to walk. So, talking about HD content, Blu-ray will be the technology of choice for a long time.
Best,
DJ Headd

just watched a HD movie last night on comcast on demand. looked like SD compared to blu-ray. granted i was watching it on my parents older rear projection sony hd tv and im used to my newer toshiba lcd, but still, blu ray looks a ton better. i also have a hard time believing that hd downloads will be the next thing cuz in my opinion, i really prefer having the disc itself. dont know about everyone else, but i like having a "solid" format that cant get accidently erased off a hdd, and it is also kinda fun to have a ton of movies on a shelf to kinda show off to friends

From Dish, a long time, because Satellite bandwidth is far more limited than the IP based distribution that Comcast would use

HD downloads are going to be very low in bitrates, as well as dolby 5.1 at the most. I have directv HD and I can also say the hd movies are no where near blu-ray quality. Although some documentaries look good (like on discovery channel).

But on the other hand there are some PS3 trailers that look good and if stretched to movie length would take up roughly 4gb to 9 gb (enough to burn on a dvd+r)

My parents has Dish network HD. I thought it was so nice before Bluray came along. Now all HD look like Standard DVD to me.
Lost on BD and Lost on ABD HD is like night and day.

All those journalist can write whatever they want but there's no way that it will take over physical media. Just keep educating your friends.

Some don't even have a PC, and some who do have PCs are still using dial up.

I know there'll be a new format in the future to take over BD eventually and digital download is just not one of them no matter what the journalists say.
