Default Need Audio Help! (receiver)

Okay, I'm trying to finish the whole setup, but I don't know enough about audio. I have a set of Klipsch speakers -- 2 floor speakers, a center channel, and 2 rears -- and a Martin Logan sub. I'd like to get a 7.1 channel receiver now and try to upgrade the last 2 rear speakers later, but I have a few questions. I was hoping that some of you could help me answer them...

1. If I have a Samsung BD-P1000 with audio outputs, do I still need receiver with HDMI inputs and outputs?
2. Will the HDMI plus the audio outputs from a receiver give me the best sound for PCM and other uncompressed audio Blu-rays? If so, can someone maybe explain why as well?
3. And finally, assuming I need a receiver that does have HDMI inputs and one output to the TV, does the receiver need to 1080p capable to take full advantage of 1080p resolution from my Blu-ray to my TV still?

Thank you in advance for any help that you can offer.

I know if I was just starting a new setup I would wait for the 1.3 hdmi amps to start rolling out b4 I did anything... for our main tv set up we went with McIntosh MX-136.. I feel like its the best audio I've ever heard but for that much it should be... my advice wait for the 1.3hdmi amps

If I have the Samsung BD-P1000, can I take advantage of HDMI 1.3? I didn't think I had that capability because I have an older BD player.

Thank you for the compliment. My real question is, "do I need a $400-500 dollar amp that does have HDMI pass through? Or, do I need the $1500 amp that has 1080p HDMI pass through to my TV?" I will most likely get a Yamaha because my family believes in the brand and we've used them in the past with good experiences. I just don't know if I have to spend the extra $1000 for the 1080p HDMI pass through so that I don't loose picture quality to the TV.

Yamaha makes a ~$500 amp with HDMI pass through that is not 1080p. They also make the $1500 V2700 that has 1080p HDMI pass through and sounds incredible. But, do I need to spend that? I'm going for the best PQ first, and then for sound.

You need 1080p pass if your going run a HDMI throw the receiver to the tv & keep 1080p. Or you can run the HDMI straight to the tv & then run just the audio to the receiver.
