Default Taking up two parking spots...

There is a short list of things that really get to me, and taking up two parking spots is definitely one of them. Back in college when I had my Camry beater, if I saw a "nice" car taking up two spots on purpose, I would go out of my way to park as close as possible to that car! Especially when they do this relatively close to the entrance. Can't F'ing stand it! A friend of mine used to squirt a ketchup packet under the door handle to "teach them a lesson".

Does this irk you as much as me? Or are you one of the guilty that actually park that way?

It bugs the crap out of me too. I've always had pretty nice cars, and I've always parked in the lower 40 in order to keep them that way, thus inconveniencing only myself. Taking up two spots just makes me want to jack somebody's car up on purpose.

I neither do it, nor does it bother me "that" much.... irks me a little I guess, they should just park further away and walk.

Yup I hate those kind of people who think their cars have special privileges. OTOH, that's just inviting other people to do something unpleasant to their cars. I usually park far away from other cars to protect my car from dings and scratches if possible and I would never think of taking two spots.

For me in Arizona it's mostly these rednecks that bought an F-350, Excursion, Dodge Ram Heavy Duty and they can't park the stupid things.

xtop, if you're going to park far away, just use the normal spot. Otherwise, if you're that afraid of your car getting dinged, leave it at home.

thats why i park far away. the kind of trash that ding cars are too lazy to park that far away, but you get dumb people occasionally. but if i'm far away, what difference does it make how many spots i use

I guess to each his own, but I lump all those that take up two spaces in the same category. Oh well.

That's a recipe to get keyed or get door bashed by a beater. When I'm in my nicer car, I'll park farther out deliberately. In my beater, I don't care, of course.

Well, I think we've all been somewhere busy looking for a spot, and instead of finding one, you see numerous people taking up two spots. I really can't stand this at the airport! So, in this case, a few rotten apples do indeed ruin the bunch. Sorry.

Yeah, I get irked by this as well. I'll see what looks like an open spot up ahead after driving around for five minutes. When I pull up to it I see that there's no room because somebody is taking up two spots.

I don't mind as long as it's parked in the back of the lot, and if it's parked closer, it had better be a vehicle worthy of taking up 2 spots. Around here the cops have no reservations about issuing tickets for this.

I've heard that bologna and certain . . . male bodily fluid . . . does some damage to paint.

Can you imagine standing in a parking lot pleasuring yourself onto somebody's car? And if the owner comes out? "I, uh . . . really like your car."

I was going to make a post to this point, but you beat me to it. Imo (and I'll probably catch a lot of flack for saying it), I think anybody who brings any of these giant monstrosities (you should add Hummer and every other giant SUV class to your list, as well) into a cramped urban parking lot should automatically go on the "UPLAA" list. If you live out in the country and need to haul serious cargo, then I can understand, but if you use these utility vehicles as your daily driver in the city just to look kewl, demonstrate your monetary profile, or so you can "command" your piece of the road by brute intimidation...UPLAA list!

There's no place for these kinds of vehicles in the city for casual ownership on the roads, in the parking lots, or in Green-factor, and people need to wake up to the fact. You can barely get through the parking lot, if you have to walk between 2 large trucks, w/o dragging your clothing across dirty body panels or knocking your shoulder on a ghastly side mirror (the size of a barn door). They constitute a giant moving visual obstruction in traffic, regardless of how far back you tail. Hauling around an extra 3000 lbs of steel structure just to transport 1 person to work into the city everyday is clearly a needless consumption of precious gasoline.

I only wish mass awareness would take place where these giant urban-bound vehicles are seen as the huge politically incorrect blight that they are. It should be seen as the equivalent of wearing a fur coat derived from real animals, in addition to clubbing baby seals, amputated children arms from Africa, and blood spewing from harpooned whales.

Certainly, these kinds of vehicles do have their purposes. I'm not saying they should be abolished. I just feel people should be a bit more conscientious about choosing to own one just for reasons beyond "being kewl" or chasing a fad.

(Yes indeed, it bugs me THAT much.)
