Wink Is 37inch alright for 1080p?

I was told that 1080p only looked 100% pure when it was on 42in and more.
My 37inch Samsung 1080p screen is great, bluray works so well with it, but to get 100% pure quality do i need 42in or more?
Thanks!

If you sit at the ideal distance for a 1080p set this size then you are getting the full benefit. The recommended THX distance for your set is about 4ft. to see that maximum benefit of 1080p. You don't have to get a larger set to benefit, but the larger the set greater the benefit. Of course you still have to sit in an ideal spot for any size to get the maximum benefit.

No. You don't need a larger screen. I don't got a 1080P tv...just a 720p. Unless your in that 1% that can actually notice the difference between 720p and 1080p it won't matter. False info sucks.

I have a Sharp 37inch 1080p and blurays look amazing on it. Don't worry about the false info...probably more important to be sitting at a proper distance and have your display settings adjusted for peak viewing pleasure!

Enjoy!

Thanks

You will see the difference if you are close enough. 4' would be good.

I sit about 1.5 metres (5 feet) it still looks great.

Wow... where do people get this ridiculous information.... Viewing distance, as well as your eyesight are both factors that are in play...

Ahhh... I see where the OP is getting false info from.... YOU!
If you don't factor in viewing distance, you can make claims all you want, but they aren't accurate. How about this for you..... I bet you can't tell the difference from a non-upconverted DVD vs. a 1080p Blu-ray on a 60" Plasma display......... What??? You're telling me I'm crazy???? Did I forget to mention that you'll be viewing them from 75 feet away...... I guess viewing distance plays a part eh?

Blanket statements like "1080p is only important on XYZ Size and up" are ridiculous..... Some people use 32" displays as computer monitors with Blu-ray playback, and they sit 1.5 feet from the screen.... you're telling me they can't tell the difference?????

I would consider that an ideal (whether by THX or not) viewing distance for that sized screen.... I sit 9' or so away from my 37", but I use it for standard DVDs, and Satellite (non HD) viewing....

I use a 32" 1080p which had a Blu-ray player connected to it (until the piece of crap died for the second time) that I sit (lay in bed actually) 14' or so away from.... WAY further than anyone would ever recommend, that's for sure.... but we want the T.V. to be very "Non-Obtrusive" in the room.

I do my main Blu-ray viewing on a 106" 720p screen at 9' and it works great for me. I could probably benefit from a 1080p at this size/distance, but I plan on a large upgrade when I have a more suitable space for a theater (which I'm working on)

A lot of people never sat in an A/V store at the same distance they would sit at home, and compared displays...... most walk into a Best Buy, and see two side by side, and say "Oh this one looks a lot better" and they don't take into account the fact that they are standing 2 feet away.....

Also, you should calibrate you screen for best results... The picture quality has more to it than just lines of resolution, so you'll want to get the most accurate color reproduction you can.....
