Question How to transfer files/DLC from old PS3 to new PS3?

Hi guys. Potential dumb/newb question here. I'm thinking about getting the new PS3 Slim for the holidays to replace my old unit. Is there an easy way to transfer my save game files, demos and other DLC from my old PS3 to the new one? If so, would u mind telling me how? Pretty plz.

TIA

Just run the backup that's in the GUI. You'd need either an external hard drive or a large usb jump drive if you've got a lot of stuff. When I ran it, I dumped all of my demos to save space since at the time I didn't have a big HD. I'm not 100%, but I think the drive you're saving to must be FAT32 formatted since they didn't license NTFS.

^ Forgive me for asking another potentially dumb question, but what is FAT32/NTFS, and how do I know if my USB thumb drive is one or the other?

FAT32 and NTFS are file storage systems. Most thumb drives and external hard drives are formatted in FAT32 (unless specified on the packaging). The Playstation 3 cannot read nor write to a NTFS file system so in order to view/play/copy/delete files to the playstation 3, you must have a FAT32 formatted hard drive/thumb drive.

To check, right click the external hard drive/thumb drive in My Computer and click Properties. It should say there the "File System!"

Additionally, FAT32 file systems cannot store single files larger than 4 GB, NTFS can. Any other questions just hollar!
