In wall suggestions - Blu-ray Forum

I am putting in some klipsch (R-2502-W) in-walls for surrounds. These would be my main surrounds and they are going in an archway that is right behind where we sit. Its the perfect place, see pics. It was a pain getting these in there because of more wood in those archways than I thought. My question is now that I have them in there what should I use to insulate for sound? There is not alot of room but I can stuff some in there

. I have some auralex foam that may work or does regular insulation work better. Any suggestions would be helpful and thanks in advance.

Perhaps I'm lost.....that does happen to me....

I looked in your gallery and don't see speakers IN the archway.....I see some in the ceiling in-front of it. Maybe the pictures are still being uploaded?

Anyway, you first off don't have to stuff anything in there. In-wall/ceiling speakers are engineered to work with or without stuffing or a cabinet.

If you want to use something, I'd go with the standard advice of poly-fill. Loose or wrapped? Um....I've always used loose....and since it's a "sealed" enclosure, no worries about poly flying out the port. But I've seen many an anguement for wrapped. Even seen pillows used.

I'm sure someone else will come along and make some recomendation that actually helps

thanks, yeah i just put them in over the weekend so the pics i have on there are from before. will post some new pics soon. i think i will put a little something in there and then just let that archway be the chamber. thx!!

I would suggest the same poly-foam stuffing that you get from a craft store. It is common used to stuff subs and other speakers.

I'm not familiar enough with the Auralex you are referring to. Standard wall insulation could work to.

I would try with various amounts until you get a sound that seems to be "right" to your ears. It may take a few days/movies to see what you like. Heck, you may never hear a difference since they are surrounds. How knows?
