Dreamworks has acquired television writer/producer Justin Adler’s spec screenplay The Escort, a R-rated unlikely buddy road-trip comedy which has been described as Dutch meets Role Models meets Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Tom McNulty (The Rocker, Date Night) is producing.

The story follows a dysfunctional womanizing flight escort who is forced to travel with a 14-year old spoiled rich wise-ass kid after their plane is grounded due to engine trouble. The escort has only a short amount of time to get the return the kid to his Mother in Boston, or he loses the money which is owed to him for the job. As you might expect, the two form a very unlikely friendship along the way. I’ve heard the script was written as a dirty r-rated comedy, but I’m sure Dreamworks is probably looking to soften it down to a PG-13.

Um that sounds EXACTLY like Dutch but it's just not the kids father, which just like in Dutch is pretty much someone who's just a stranger............LAME

The plot of "The Escort" followed by the plot of "Dutch"

Dutch Dooley (Ed O'Neill) agrees to drive his girlfriend's twelve-year-old son Doyle (Ethan Randall) home for Thanksgiving, hoping that the trip will allow the two of them to develop a relationship and grow closer as a family. When Dutch arrives at Doyle's boarding school in Georgia, he discovers that Doyle is a stuck-up know-it-all who looks down on Dutch because of his blue collar upbringing. Doyle's mother Natalie Standish (JoBeth Williams) is recovering from a failed marriage to her priggish husband Reed (Christopher McDonald). Doyle blames Natalie for the break-up of the marriage. As Dutch and Doyle travel from Georgia to Chicago, they encounter various obstacles that bring them closer together. In addition to their bonding, Doyle obviously learns the valuable lesson of judging others by criteria besides their social class.
