Default Planes, Trains and Automobiles

So this week they released Planes, Trains and Automobiles "Those aren't Pillows" edition on DVD only. Why wouldn't they release this special edition on blu? This is one of my all time favourite comedies and have been patiently waiting for its arrival on blu, then I see this new release on DVD I couldn't believe it.

With that logic a scare in a horror is just as good in SD than HD.

"A f**kin Datsun, a f**kin Toyota, a f**kin Subaru. Four f**kin wheels and a seat!"

Love this movie. We need a John Candy box set on blu-ray.

I was just thinking about this movie a couple days ago. My favorite scene is when they go between the buses and Steve Martin sees John Candy as the devil I haven't seen this in a while, hope it does come out on Blu before too long. It is weird they would release it on an old format and not new.

Yeah. I for one am getting tired of studios still releasing movies on DVD and NOT releasing an accompanying Blu-Ray.

Now if the studio is intentionally delaying the Blu-Ray because they're creating an entirely new Blu transfer, that's understandable.

But Planes Trains and Automobiles isn't the kind of film that screams out for a restoration - so why not just release the Blu already?

Sounds about right, although horror movies can be a bit more visual than comedies (especially the gory ones). I obviously don't think HD hurts comedies, I just never really saw it as a big deal.

I completely disagree. I am in my mid 20s and I think it is one of the top 3 funniest films I've seen, along with My Cousin Vinny and a third I would have to think about.

Steve Martin and John Candy are comic geniuses.

+1, I first saw this when I was like 15 and I loved it. I'm 23 now, still awesome!

Me too. I have seen it so many times but it hasn't lost all that much to me, just like My Cousin Vinny. The pillow scene and car rental scene are two of the funniest scenes ever in film.

Love the movie and love John Candy, I sure as hell miss him. Would buy it on blu, but the ending is such a downer, I wish it was more upbeat. That's the only fault I find with the film. The car rental scene is one of my all time favorite movie scenes.

Box it with Uncle Buck, The Great Outdoors, Who's Harry Crumb, Brewster's Millions and Volunteers. All of these I want from one of the funniest guys ever.
