USA 80's Classic CREEPSHOW on Blu-ray

Just picked up this movie yesterday....... Excellent picture quality, but I was very disappointed in the audio. Dolby True HD 2.0 stereo? Come on. This baby should of been brought to 5.1 life. Your thoughts?

It was originally a stereo release in theaters, wasn't it? I see no problem releasing it in stereo. Is a phony surround mix really gonna make it any better?

Just be happy that it's lossless and the audio is clear.

The Wizard of OZ was not even in stereo, and it was processed in 5.1 surround. But I agree it does sound good in HD stereo.

Just because it theoretically can be done, doesn't mean it really needs to be done.

In the case of Creepshow, we don't have to speculate. Universal Home Video did a 5.1 remix of Creepshow for the 2007 UK 2 disc special edition DVD. And it sounds really good, actually! That and the really exceptional supplement package they put together forces me to bypass the Warner release and wait for a blu-ray from Universal UK.

Did they use Dolby True HD 5.1 surround? I suppose I could matrix a 5.1 surround track with my receiver, but it wouldn't sound great.

It was a DVD, so, no. Standard Dolby Digital 5.1.

Got Creepshow (it's great) and just ordered Twilight Zone: The Movie.

Any others like this out there, 3 or 4 shorts presented as a movie? Would like to get Trilogy of Terror and Cat's Eye too. I cannot think what else?

I am happy with the Creepshow soundtrack. It is lossless and true to the source, so

SO was checking out this site.http://movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=3368

and noticed that Creepshow had what is called a Workprint version of the film. Im guessing its equal to a Directors cut. So I was wondering why that wasnt made into a Blu Ray and wanted to know if anyone else would like to see it?

I posted this on the other forum but wanted to know what you guys thought.

While I would love to see it a workprint is an early unfinished version of a film. I don't think the materials available would look good on BD at all. However the extra scenes would be nice as a bonus. Maybe they could do what they did ith My Bloody Valentine and use seamless branching. I think we can assume this will never happen so we should just be happy with what we have. Which is pretty sweet for this movie.

I am also awaiting a UK bd for the same reasons. Their feature length Creepshow making-of featurette was excellent.

+2. Same reason for me.

It seems like there's a lot going for many of the UK releases - better PQ/AQ/features (Twister, Total Recall) and/or price (The Matrix Box Set, The Ultimate Bourne Collection, Mission Impossible: Ultimate Missions). I know the pound's down compared to the dollar, but some of these box sets are alarmingly (in a good way) less than their North American counterparts.
