1080p available when? - Blu-ray Forum

I've read in a couple of magazines that the next installments of SXRD sets will be able to accept a 1080p input. One reason I haven't purchased a new t.v. yet. Though I am getting anxious to purchase one. Has anyone heard anything of when they will start selling these sets? Or for that matter, any other company that will be selling displays that can accept 1080p? I know there aren't any out there yet, but there is no reason to buy now when perhaps three or four months down the road my new set will be obsolete.

I believe Pioneer has a 50" plasma with the 1920 by 1080 res that can accept a 1080p input that should cost around £5,000. Out this June if I remember correctly. Not sure about Sony's SXRD rear pro sets, though I believe they also have a plasma or lcd set that will display a 1080p image out this summer sround the 45" size.

Thanks. I'm mainly looking for rear-projection type sets, like the Sony KDS 60XBRI or the Mitsubishi 62927W. Hopefully Sony will get rid of the side unattachable speakers. Another reason I've held off from purchasing that set. I would love to start football season with an excellent picture and big screen.

In October I bought a 55in 3LCD, the set does not do 1080P however it is a truly auwsome looking big screen. The picture quality is excellent, the only drawback is it doesn't have PIP, but I don't need that anyway, and it doesn't do 1080P, not a bad set though for only 2300$ compared to the Sharp Aquaros that is 3600$ and only 45in.

Sony is coming out with 5 models that support 1080p input including 2 sxrd modles around the end of the summer....

I saw a 52" Mitsubishi 1080p TV for around 4k at Sears....

I'm fine with watching a Blu-Ray DVD on 1080i/720p for the time being...

it's alot better than the current DVD's...
