This just arrived this morning.
First things first, the artwork on all online stores is incorrect. There is no band at the top stating 20th Anniversary edition. The picture quality is pretty good compared to what I remember but it does seem a bit light. Lots of grain but quite detailed. The print has had no damage correction at all as there are specks and flecks throughout the whole film. The downside to me seems to be the sound, its listed as DTS Master Audio Surround 5.1 but it seems that all the sound is at the front and is pretty quiet. Not too bad all in all for an eighties film a good first step before Platoon and Apocalypse Now ![]() |

Is this the same copy that’s been used for the DVD? So if you mute or disconnect the centre channel you’ll hear foggy dialogue over left and right fronts!
If it is they can keep it. I see no point in buying the same transfer over and over again. Saw this projected once in the cinema. I liked the Phillip Glass score opening and closing credits and contemporary 60’s music used in parts of the film. Sound effects of the M16, has nice recoil punch within 30Hz to 50Hz that kicks if you had the room finely EQ turned. Anyway if one knows what to listen for and knows how to do a proper A&B test please do the above and test to see if this is the same transfer because this type of thing often crops up. |
