Blockbuster using customs for their blu-ray rentals? - Blu-ray Forum

Note: Not sure if this belongs here.

I noticed that Blockbuster has some 'custom' covers for some of their rentals/previewed movies. For instance:

Picked these up today as part of a sail. They also did it for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

Is anyone else noticing this?

I got the same copy of On Stranger Tides as well. They also have Crazy Stupid Love that have DVD size artwork too. It does not bother me as long as they provide some type of cover art to the used Blu-rays that they sell.

I know the art sucks on that. i call it fakeart. But those are just the combo pack ones they couldn't get right away and bought them from a store to use and rent them.

Legally, I don't think they can just reprint the original cover.

That pirate of the Caribbean one is just horrible.

why not just the regular one is what I say? I mean what are they gonna do with all those cover arts laying around? Give people more bang for their buck!

Pirates I didn't mind too much because I had the Metal Box anyway.

Warner Bros. and Blockbuster are in some type of contract dispute. Warner wants them to wait 28 days like Netflix, and they want half of all "previously viewed" sales. I don't know why Pirates was included. Blockbuster has to buy combo paks and repack DVD and Blu-ray discs on release day.

Because back in October only the blu ray/dvd combo pack was available and that was the only way to get the dvd until recently.

I don't get why we're complaining. They're pre-viewed Blu-rays.
The studios don't care at all because you aren't giving them a cent when you buy those. Blockbuster is just desperate.

I've seen loads of custom covers as well. Horrible Bosses and The Social Network among others.

I got a previously used crazy stupid love from a Blockbuster store closing for 2 dollars that had some random custom art.
