Hmm, I'm not too sure. But I think they're whatever region you make them. I don't want to falsely push you into a purchase of one as I don't really know anything about them. I'm sure there's documentation online.

I'd be curious to know the answer to this as well. I think many DVD-ROM drives allow the user to change regions on the drive a handful of times before the drive is permanently set. Not sure if a similar system exists on BD-ROM drives.

As mentioned though, the simplest solution is to use AnyDVD HD, which will remove the region coding from the disc. |

thank you everyone for the amazing advice, i didn't mean to come off as "that guy," to the guy up top, im just more into the foreign blu rays - i guess i get a small kick out of showing my blu rays off to friends and they give me the reaction like "whoa this is japanese?"
plus - i personally like some of the covers better - the artwork looks alot better than the states ie: stargate, casino, gladiator. i have a internal blu ray drive LG for my computer right now - i have yet to "change the region," or try anything of the sort. but if someone could maybe message me or post a step by step thing i would appreciate it MORE THAN ANYTHING. so now when i see cliffhanger, the illusionist, night of the living dead, i'd be stoked to actually get to watch them in blu! also - was there any talk of these programs working? ripping your blu ray to your computer - changing the region - and writing the file on a BR DVD ? maybe i'm just a noob on this end, i appreciate everyones input. |

as for the bluray drive on the PC. they ship region free and it is the SW that locked it to a set region. how ever if you use power dvd 8 or 9. it takes about 5 seconds to rest the region code. I PM you a link to site which shows u how on vista and xp |

Hmm, this thread got me thinking. PowerDVD 7 and 8 can both coexist on a PC at the same time. Has anyone ever tried to change one version to Region A and the other to Region B or vice-versa?

this work with power dvd 8 and 9 power dvd 7 has a reg hack where you can change the corresponding value from limit of 5 to 50,000 or manual change the region code in the reg. but power dvd 8 and 9 mythod is the easiest mythod. |

I have never even thought about changing the region code on my computer... Duh. There are some region B discs that I would love to get. Actually I have never even used my computers BD drive to watch any BDs. I could just set that to region B and leave it at that. Why did I never think of this before?

I always thought that they were gonna stop people from buying discs from other countries, but I found out today, there are now blu-rays players that come multi-regioned for blu-ray discs (I'm guessing dvd mutli-regioned too).
http://www.planetomni.com/Prod_BLURAY.shtml By the looks of things, all companies are starting to produce them with region A & B which would be perfect for me because Australia is Region B, but I wanted to buy some Japanese anime ones from Japan which are A. Can anyone verify that these players are actually truly 2 regions? |

It's been 2 years since this thread was started, so hopefully there is a solution by now:
I've got a PS3 (USA-made) locked to Region A, and I would like to watch Region B blu-ray discs. Is there a way to do it, such as downloading some kind of software? If we are not allowed to discuss such matters openly, I would appreciate any help via PM. Thanks. |
