Default Lionsgate Plans On Remaking ‘Twilight.’ It’s True. They’ll Deny It. But It’s True

Quote:
November 21, 2008. That’s what, a little less than four years ago? Since then Summit Entertainment has released four Twilight adaptations, with the fifth and final arriving on November 16. By the five year anniversary, Lionsgate, who acquired Summit back in January for $412.5 million in cash and stock, will be in serious discussions regarding the future of the Stephenie Meyer vampire/werewolf franchise.

They’ll deny it, right here, right now. We’ll get plenty of eggs in our face. Sites will burn us at the stake like a witch during the Salem trials. Still, the fact will remain: it’s true.

In fact, they’re already discussing it internally. It will happen.

Twilight will return. It will never leave. It is eternal. Prepare to weep for another decade.

It is still undecided exactly what the future of the franchise will be, though. It could be a direct remake, considering the initial saga is so poorly made, but then again it could also be a spinoff or maybe even a one-off sequel. It could be anything to keep the green bills piling high. But expect a remake. Yes, quickly.

Lionsgate’s needs a fresh franchise to run alongside the Tyler Perry and Saw films that fueled them through the 00′s. Now that they have Summit, and The Hunger Games franchise, revising Twilight from another studio’s perspective could be just what the doctor ordered…

Talk back below.
http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/31...-but-its-true/
To all those out there that hates Twilight and thought the worst was over after this year. Well, you'll be in for a painful surprise if Lionsgate has it's way. They know there is too much money to just not let go. The fans of these movies will keep on seeing them and seeing them until its end of days really.

AND GO!

it wont be remade - they may do sequels or spinoffs, but not remakes. At least not for a long time.

whatever they do with it, it will suck... just like the current series.

Thing is, I think interest in this series will quickly die down after the final movie. It's like New Kids on the Block or something.... tween girls are crazy about them and they seem unstoppable, but those girls will grow up and grow out of it, and no one will care anymore.

The Hunger Games is the new face now after the last Twlight leaves theaters.

I wouldn't even label that a fair comparison. Hunger Games was superior in every single way imaginable. The quality of that movie was way ahead of anything the twilight series has ever contributed.

This is what I think will happen too.

Remake or whatever... the franchise is not getting anymore than the initial 1000 SCENE POINTS that I "paid" to go see the first one in theatres. I don't care who is directing or starring. The content is pure garbage and doesn't deserve my attention unless there is nothing else on the planet to watch... and there is ALWAYS something else to watch.

Star Wars: Episode IV -- A New Hope is a remake of The Hidden Fortress.

The 2009 Star Trek directed by J.J. Abrams is a remake of Star Wars: Episode IV.

The Harry Potter series has massive similarities to the elements found in Tolkien's Middle-Earth.

It's already happened.

The sooner Twilight's candle burns out for good, the better.

I know that Lucas took some elements from that film for inspiration, but I wouldn't call it a remake.

How so? I saw the 2009 film, and wasn't impressed at all. There doesn't seem to be any direct allusions to "Star Wars", except for ILM doing the effects work.

Again, in what way(s)?

If you watch the Criterion DVD of The Hidden Fortress, Lucas basically acknowledges that Episode IV is a remake of that movie.

As for Star Trek (2009) and Episode IV:

James Kirk = Luke Skywalker (hick farmboy becomes space flyboy)
Bones McCoy = C3-PO (talkative worrywart)
Chekov = R2-D2 (small guy who saves the day)
Narada = Death Star (space vehicle that destroys planets)
Spock's little ship = Luke Skywalker's X-wing (small vessel delivers fatal blow to Narada/Death Star)
Ceremony promoting Kirk = Medal ceremony for Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Chewbacca
ice planet = Hoth (Episode V, just in case the movie bombed and J.J. Abrams couldn't make another tribute to his love of Star Wars)

Harry Potter and Middle-Earth:
children = Hobbits
Dumbledore = Gandalf
Voldemort = Sauron (disembodied villain)
Philosopher's Stone = The One Ring (magical object that can restore corporeal form to disembodied villain)
Whomping Willow = Ents
Death Eaters and Dementors = Witch King/Ringwraiths/Nazgul
Aragog = Shelob

There are tons to list.

In fact, he said the whole 9-episode SERIES (back when it was nine episodes) was originally supposed to be "C3P0 & R2D2 = Tahei & Matashichi"--
Back before it became the adventures of Luke Skywalker, and then the adventures of Anakin Skywalker, and then...

I wouldn't say much for Hunger's future shelf life, but right now, Twilight is SO dead by the time the last movie leaves theaters. And I don't even mean undead.

I'm in a writing group for YA, and among all the aspiring HS/college girl scribes who want to write the last book they read, NOBODY is writing outcast romantic vampires, outcast menstruation-allegory werewolves, or even cool-clique outcast descendants of fallen angels anymore:
We were reading six manuscripts a month in our group, and no less than four of them at one time had the exact same dystopian competitions for spunky survivalist girls with crossbows.

The new national pubescent-female dream has just had an oil change.

It wouldn't surprise me. Spiderman is being "rebooted" and why? Wasn't the last one bad enough?

I'm all for a remake of Twilight. Only in this version, Edward gets killed and Jacob gets the girl instead.

Can't see why they'd buy Summit if they didn't intend to do more with Twilight. What else does it have going for it?
