Default What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? To Be Remade

Quote:
Deadline is reporting that What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? is going to get an update.

The man behind the redo? Walter Hill, who recently directed the Sylvester Stallone flick Bullet to the Head, but also gave us The Warriors, 48hrs., Streets of Fire, Trespass, just to name a few flicks.

The original What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? was released in 1962 and starred Bette Davis and Joan Crawford in a story about Jane Hudson, a former child star, and her sister Blanche, a movie queen forced into retirement after a crippling accident. Together, they live in virtual isolation and stuff gets real weird from there.

Hill will write and direct the remake for The Aldrich Company.

Can't say I ever saw it. Not unless you count that little bit that was shown in the House of Wax Remake in the theater scene.

I read this article earlier. Not quite sure how I feel about it, to be honest. I'll reserve forming any sort of opinion until the leads have been cast...

Yeah, I'm leaning toward keeping an open mind as well.

My immediate reaction is 'okay, well, whatever' but then I had the same reaction when I heard HBO was doing Mildred Pierce and that turned out to be worthwhile.

So who knows.

I grew up watching this film a lot, it's my sisters favorite film... going to be interesting to see a remake.

Who could top Bette Davis? her performance in this film was excellent... doubt anyone would look as mental as she did, lol.

you know, it is truly amazing. we have `The Dark Knight Rises` coming out, an original unique movie based off of an established character and it is expected to make billions yet the studios can`t seem to pull a new movie idea out their a$$ to save their lives. remake after remake after remake for no reason other than they can`t think of a new story idea. and then when they do make a new movie, it`s Bucky Larson or whatever the hell it was called. anyone ever think that the problem with Hollywood is the people there? why is it that Nolan and Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez can make entertaining movies that make money(and usually make them for cheap) but Hollywood, with families who have been involved with movies for generations, can`t come up with an original idea? i think they need to kick about 90% of the `creative` people out of Hollywood and let a new bunch move in and maybe they will quit doing unnecessary remakes.

If they want to really parallel the original and are willing to go a little older (and really, 40 is the new 107 these days so...) Meryl Streep and Glenn Close could be fun to watch.

Julianne Moore, Marisa Tomei, Maria Bello, Cybill Shepherd, Michelle Pfeiffer, Anette Benning...there's a lot of talent in that age range.
